    The new AFRISO EDS 10 electronic pressure switch converts the pressure of liquid or gaseous media into an electrical signal. EDS 10 allows the user to define up to two selectable points for switching / switching back. The unit is programmed by means of two keys and the menu. The pressure switch can be rotated by 330° and tilted by 300° so that it can be used under adverse mounting conditions. A 4-digit 7-segment LED display shows the system pressure (selectable pressure units bar, mbar, psi or MPa). The pressures switch features a piezo-resistive stainless steel measuring cell. Sensors are available for all standard measuring ranges from 0/100 mbar to 0/600 bar. Starting at a nominal pressure of greater than 1 bar, EDS 10 is vacuum-tight without limitations. At 0/400 mbar and higher, the accuracy amounts to ≤ ±0.35 %. The pressure switch is supplied with DC 18–30 V and provides, depending on the requirements, two PNP or NPN switching outputs, alternatively a 4 –20 mA output plus PNP or NPN output (all in SIO mode).

    EDS 10 was developed for 100 x 108 switching cycles with a switching frequency of up 200 Hz and delay times from 0 to 50 s. The new measuring instrument is suitable for temperatures of the medium of -40/125 °C. All standard ¼" or ½" connections are available for the process connection. A 4-pin M12 x 1 metal connector is used for standard electrical connection. The pressure switch is optionally available with other seal materials (EPDM) and other electrical connections. Main application areas comprise monitoring of gaseous or liquid media in plant engineering and mechanical engineering. EDS 10 is an ideal solution for hydraulic and pneumatic systems where high switching accuracy is required.

    The new battery-operated precision digital pressure gauge DIM 30 is a compact, stainless-steel electronic pressure measuring instrument consisting of a pressure transducer with a piezo-resistive stainless steel sensor and a digital, graphical LC display. DIM 30 provides information on pressure (bar, mbar, hPa, kPa, MPa, psi, inHg, cmHg, mmHg, inH2O, mmH2O, mH2O or kg/cm²), temperature and time. Due to the intuitive menu, the measuring instrument is easy to use. DIM 30 is specially designed for monitoring pressure and temperature behaviour as well as on-site calibration of pressure transducers. The measuring instrument can also be used without tools and calibration, for example, for other measuring tasks or measuring ranges.

    DIM 30 converts pressure in the pressure ranges from 0/100 mbar to 0/600 bar at pressures as low as 400 mbar and with a high accuracy of ≤±0.05 % BFSL. An integrated data logger allows for linear or cyclical recording of measured pressure and temperature values which can be analysed on the PC by mans of an evaluation software. DIM 30 features a G1/2B process connection and is suitable for temperatures of the medium and for ambient temperatures from –10 °C to 55 °C. The device is supplied by three 1.5 V Mignon batteries (AA LR6), which allow for approximately 2,000 hours of standard operation and a standby mode of approximately 5 years. Application areas of the digital pressure gauge include mobile electronic pressure measurement with high demands in terms of accuracy and long-term stability, for example, in process engineering as well as plant and mechanical engineering applications.

    The new AFRISO DMU 14 DG/FG Ex pressure transducer is designed for electronic pressure measurement in applications requiring high measuring accuracy (< ± 0.1 % FSO) and long-term stability (< ± 0.1 % FSO/year). Due to the turn down range of 1:5 (measuring accuracy ± 0.2 % FSO), it is the ideal solution for special measuring tasks in the process industry.

    The measuring instrument converts the pressure of liquid or gaseous media in the ranges from 0/400 mbar to 0/600 bar into a proportional 4-20 mA signal. The DMU 14 DG/FG Ex transducer features ATEX approval and HART communication and is suitable for temperatures of the medium of -30 °C to +125 °C and for (Ex) ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +(60)70 °C. The measuring instrument is supplied with DC 12-28 V and features a G1/2B process connection. The integrated display has main and supplementary indication. DMU 14 Ex is available with two housing versions: a stainless steel field housing (FG) for the pharmaceutical and food industries and an aluminium die cast housing (DG) for rough conditions in the process industry. The new pressure measuring instrument is optionally available without display, with other process connections and in a high temperature version up to 300 °C. The robust transducer was developed for high long-term stability and a long service life.

    Company news Picture: The new AFRISO MD 11 diaphragm seal is a highly reliable chemical seal system that can be used in conjunction with Bourdon tube pressure gauges or pressure switches in installations with waste water, fertilisers, corrosive media and a wide variety of chemicals.

    The new AFRISO MD 11 diaphragm seal, plastic version, can be used for pressure measurement in conjunction with a Bourdon tube pressure gauge and for switching tasks in conjunction with a pressure switch, for example, in installations with waste water, fertilisers, corrosive media and a wide variety of chemicals.

    Chemical seals prevent direct contact of the measured medium with the measuring instrument. Depending on the application, PVC, PP or PVDF process connections (connection threads G ½ or G¼) and media connections (connection threads G ½ or G¼, PP GF 30) are possible. The MD 11 chemical seals feature TFM-coated, internal EPDM diaphragms with a very thermal and chemical resistance and elasticity. Glycerine (FM 03) is used as pressure transmission liquid. At nominal pressure PN 10, the pressure ranges cover 0/1 bar to 0/10 bar. Depending on the process connection, the operating temperature ranges are 0 to 60 °C (PVC), -10 to 80 °C (PP) and -20 to 100 °C (PVDF). Other process connections are optionally available. MD 11 is an excellent solution for systems with polluted waste water and for outdoor applications in rough conditions requiring high resistance to atmospheric conditions and ozone.

    Company news Picture: Pomace is the solid remains of grapes, carrots, tomatoes, apples and other fruit. Pomace is processed for a variety of purposes, for example, to produce brandy, fodder or fertiliser. In addition, pomace is used by biogas companies for renewable energy

    Pomace is the solid remains of grapes and other plants after pressing. Even though it is mainly associated with winemaking, pomace also remains when carrots, tomatoes or apples are pressed. Pomace is processed for a variety of purposes, for example, to produce brandy, fodder or fertiliser. In addition, pomace is used by biogas companies for renewable energy.

    The weighing system in the pomace silo (height 20 m, capacity 80 t) of a fruit juice manufacturer exhibited increasing failure rates and kept delivering incorrect measurements as it was dated. As a result, often there was more pomace in the silo than expected so that a considerable portion of the pomace blown into the silo via a pipe landed on the roof. An AFRISO measuring system consisting of the guided micropulse level indicator PulsFox PMG 10 MF plus the digital display unit DA 14 turned out to be a reliable and professional solution for the fruit juice manufacturer. Without having made a major investment, the company can now exactly plan the supply and removal of pomace based on the precise tonnage indication. And remains on the roof are a thing of the past.

    The series PulsFox PMG 10 guided micropulse measuring instruments have been designed to accurately measure the level of high-viscosity or low-viscosity, adhesive, conductive or isolating liquids or bulk solids, for example in storage or process containers, silos or tanks. Regardless of high or low tanks, disturbing installations, small distances or conductive foam on the medium to be measured - there is a suitable probe for virtually any application. The accuracy is neither influenced by turbulent, steaming or dusty surfaces nor impaired by changes in density, pressure or temperature. The measuring instruments feature an aluminium die cast housing and are suitable for rough ambient conditions. The instruments have no moving parts and operate with high reliability and precision.

    The DA 14 digital display unit is used to display measured values and to evaluate and control signals from electronic transducers, in particular in level measurement applications. Bearing charts for all standard cylindrical, horizontal tanks and spherical tanks are pre-programmed. In addition to pre-programmed units, it is possible to set up custom display units (tonne t). The entire range of devices (DA 10, DA 12, DA 14) features rack mounting housings and can be supplied with 20–253 V DC/AC. Depending on the device version DA 12 or DA 14, the units feature up to 4 voltage-free relay outputs as limit switches (e.g. for pumps, valves, etc.) and 2 galvanically isolated analogue outputs.

    The flue gas analyser MAXILYZER NG Plus from AFRISO is an extended version of the MAXILYZER NG with an integrated Peltier cooler and a heating for heated suction hoses facilitate professional measurements in the field. The device is the ideal solution for checking and servicing all heating systems and for performing CO concentration safety checks at gas fired systems. In addition, the flue gas analyser can be used for measurements and adjustments at solid fuel systems, in particular for pellets, as well as bivalent, modulating combined heating and power plants. The compact design allows the device to be equipped with any combination of up to six electrochemical measuring cells (O2, COH2, CO20.000, NO, NO2, SO2).     The ergonomic user interface with backlit display shows up to 10 measured values with various units for toxic gases (ppm, mg/m3, mg/kWh, mg/MJ) and freely selectable units for pressure measurements (hPa, mbar, PSI, mmH2O, inchH2O, mmHg and inchHg). Measuring is possible with two active display levels (multitasking function). The sequence of measured values in the flue gas measuring program is individually adjustable. The "Eta" value is automatically calculated also for condensing systems under consideration of the proportion of the latent heat used. MAXILYZER NG Plus has a dust-proof and water-tight housing with an integrated thermal printer and many other features such as an integrated gas treatment system with water stop function, a standardised plug connection system for all NiCr-Ni (type K) temperature probes, an automatic instrument check with sensor state test and a limit value monitoring system with active sensor protection function for the H2-compensated CO sensor.

    The battery allows for up to 40 hours of measuring. Intelligent charging technology enables the device to be charged during measuring. MAXILYZER NG Plus features dynamic memory management for up to 100 data records. A USB interface is available for PC applications. An optional Bluetooth interface with a range of up to 100 m is also available. MAXILYZER NG Plus can be delivered in several sets - the scope of delivery comprises the MAXILYZER NG Plus with up to 6 measuring cells, a case with charger, an ambient air probe, a modular probe system, an interchangeable probe with 300 mm probe tube, 5 x Infiltec fine filter, 5 x Teflon fibre membrane, a connection kit for differential pressure measurement and a calibration report.

    Company news Picture: The AFRISO NS 100 (NS 160) Bourdon tube pressure gauge is suitable for chemical and process engineering applications and features DNV and GOSSTANDART certifications.

    The AFRISO NS 100 (NS 160) is used to measure the pressure of gaseous and liquid media at temperatures of up to 150 °C in the measuring ranges 0/0.6 bar to 0/1000 bar (0/0.6 bar to 0/1600 bar). The robust design with a measuring system that is completely welded to the housing results a shock- and vibration-resistant unit that does not require seals. This keeps the risk of leaks to a minimum and ensures high long-term stability. The pressure gauge features bottom or back bottom process connections G½B – AF 22 (EN 837-1/7.3).

    Other, customer-specific process connections are also possible. The Bourdon tube pressure gauge for chemical applications is made of stainless steel 304 and tightness-tested with helium; it features laminated safety glass window and a blow-out. Even in the case of a malfunction, one value is still available. It is very unlikely that both measuring instruments fail at the same time.

    The AFRISO DMU 13 pressure transducer with local display, consisting of a transducer with a piezo-resistive stainless steel measuring cell plus mechanical Bourdon tube measuring element, provides dual pressure measurement: The integrated pressure transducer allows for accurate measurements (< ± 0.5 FSO) and delivers a proportional 4-20 mA output signal; the analogue local display (class 1,0) is easy to read and independent of electrical power. Due to this redundancy, the current measured values remain available even in the case of malfunctions. The DMU 13 transducer is supplied with DC 12-36 V; it is available for relative pressure measuring ranges from 0/0.6 bar to 0/40 bar. It provides a bottom process connection G½B – AF 22 (EN 837-1/7.3). Other process connections can also be implemented. DMU 13 features a robust stainless steel 304 safety housing with a baffle wall and a laminated safety glass window. The measuring instrument is optionally available with a filling (paraffin oil), with a chemical seal for process separation or with an electrical contact for switching tasks.     Company news Picture: The Europress leak detector is designed for monitoring all suitable double-walled tanks for the unpressurised storage of water-polluting liquids. An optional wireless module allows for connection to an EnOcean centre. In the case of an alarm, a message is sent to the smart phone of the operator so that appropriate action can be taken immediately.

    The AFRISO Europress leak detector is a pressure type leak detector, class I as per DIN EN 13160-1, DIN EN 13160-2, with ÜHP mark. It complies with the German Water Management Act and the European Construction Products Directive. The leak detector is designed for monitoring all suitable double-walled tanks for the unpressurised storage of water-polluting liquids such as AdBlue (urea solution 32.5 %). The flexible voltage supply (AC 100–240 V) allows for application in a large variety of countries.

    The latest generation of AFRISO Europress pressure type leak detectors can be integrated into wireless building automation systems, just like all other AFRISO alarm units and products with an EnOcean-ready label. For this purpose, the optional TCM 320 EnOcean wireless module is plugged onto the PCB and the device is connected to an EnOcean centre, for example, to the AFRISOhome gateway. In the case of an alarm, a message is sent to the smart phone or tablet of the operator so that appropriate action can be taken immediately.

    The compact leak detector in a robust wall mounting housing generates visual and audible alarms in the case of a leak; the audible alarm can be muted with an Acknowledge button. The device features a test button for performing function tests and indicating the pump running time, an integrated service indicator for annual maintenance and a switching output for integration into building control systems or connection of additional alarm equipment. The two hose connections (red, white) are used for the pneumatic connection to the interstitial space of the tank; the connection pieces can be used for 4 mm or 6 mm hoses. Europress is suitable for ambient temperatures of -5/+60 °C. For outdoor applications, the device is available in a protective housing or in a protective housing with heating (IP 55) for ambient temperatures of max. -25 °C).

    The new AFRISO DMU 02 Vario FG pressure transducer is designed for universal application with a great variety of electrical connections, output signals and industry-specific process connections. The measuring instrument is suitable for rough ambient conditions and resistant to shocks, vibration and pulsation. DMU 02 Vario FG excels with superior dynamics and high long-term stability as well as outstanding resistance to vibrations and pressure. Seals are not required since the measuring cell is directly welded to the process connection. Versions with an open process connection do not need hydraulic transfer fluid so that the transducer is the perfect solution for oil- and grease-free applications as well as pressure measurements of liquids. If flush pressure connections are required in the process, a second diaphragm is mounted in front of the measuring cell. The Vario diaphragm systems are filled with special transfer liquids, depending on the application; they are also tightly sealed by means of welding. The possibility of diffusion of the transfer liquid out of the system or of the measured medium into the system is excluded. The series DMU 02 Vario pressure transducers are suitable for electronic pressure measurements in the ranges -1/0 bar to 0/600 bar. They resist operating temperatures of up to –10 to 125 °C and provide 4-20 mA or 0-10 V output signals. The pressure transducers are supplied with 9 to 32 V DC. The zero point can be corrected from the outside via a permanent magnet after voltage has been supplied and within a given time window. Typical application areas of the pressure transducers include engineering, process technology, food and pharmaceutical industries as well as ultra-pure gas applications.

    Monitoring waste water systems, rain overflow facilities, rivers and waters, wells, drilling holes or drinking water treatment plants is possible with little financial and technical effort. You only need a measuring instrument and an evaluation system such as the
    DMU 08 T pressure transducer and the DL 10 data logger with display from AFRISO.

    The combination is suitable for electronic, continuous level and temperature measurement of drinking water, groundwater, waste water (with optional FEP cable), diesel fuel and fuel oil. DMU 08 T converts the pressure of liquids in the pressure ranges of 0/100 mbar to 0/25 bar and temperatures of 0/30 °C to 0/70 °C into proportional 4-20 mA signals. A special feature is the ability to measure level and temperature with separate, independent signal amplification. In conjunction with the DL 10 data logger, a freely programmable, digital display unit with four analogue, independently programmable sensor inputs (for example, for two DMU 08 T), as well as comprehensive data logger functionality, the pressure and temperature values can be displayed with a single display. The data logger which supplies the transducer DMU 08 T has a supply voltage range of AC 50-253 V and DC 20-253 V for universal application. DL 10 features a standard rack mounting housing for control panel mounting and a backlit LC display for excellent readability even at unfavorable light conditions.

    A simple and intuitive user interface with multiple languages (EN, DE, FR) ensures fast commissioning. The combination of DMU 08 T and DL 10 meets all requirements in terms of a complete measuring system with process display and data logger. All data can be transferred to a PC.

    The AFRISO HydroFox DMU 09 pressure transducer is a screw-in probe for electronic, continuous level measurement in highly corrosive media such as chemicals or landfill waste water. The probe is inserted into the medium from the top via a cable gland (PG 11). It is supplied via a 5 m FEP cable with integrated breather tube for reference to the ambient atmospheric pressure. A capacitance measuring cell integrated into a polypropylene housing which is resistant to chemicals serves as the basis of the pressure sensor. The sensor element does not require transmission liquid in the measuring cell. Therefore, the medium cannot be polluted in the case of damage. The probe DMU 09 converts relative pressure in the pressure ranges 0/40 mbar to 0/10 bar into a proportional 4-20 mA signal at high accuracy (< ± 0.35 % FSO). Special calibration for all standard pressure units is possible. The probe is short circuit proof and protected against reverse polarity, it is supplied with DC 9-32 V and suitable for ambient temperatures and temperatures of the medium from -25 °C to 70 °C. DMU 09 can also be made to customer specifications with a PVDF housing, a protective pipe for the cable or FFMK seals. A comprehensive range of optional accessories such as screw connector kits, junction boxes and anchor clamps allows for the implementation of numerous applications.

    The AFRISO DPK 60-5 leak testers are designed for measurements of gaseous media as well as for tightness tests and load tests of low-pressure gas pipes in non-hazardous areas. The mechanical test set can be used for easy tightness tests (150 mbar) and load tests (1 bar) on gas pipes and for checking the connection and flow pressure.

    In addition, the test set is also suitable for tightness tests (150 mbar) and strength tests (3 bar) on drinking water pipes as per ZVSHK (German Central Association of the HVAC Industry).     The new AFRISO S4600 ST pressure measuring instrument can be used to measure vacuum, overpressure, differential pressure and relative pressure of gaseous, non-corrosive media in non-hazardous areas. The ergonomic handheld measuring instrument features a protective sleeve with a magnet at the back side to allow for hands-free operation. A large TFT display is provided for user-friendly visualisation and simultaneous indication of four measured values. Two adjustable display velocities for the measured values are ideal for very fast measuring processes (for example, detection of valve switching points, etc.). All measured values can be displayed in nine different units (mbar, Pa, hPa, kPa, mmWC, mmHg, inWC, psi, bar). Minimum and maximum values can be set prior to the measurement; if these values are reached, visual or audible alarms are triggered. The series S4600 ST pressure measuring instrument comes with an absolute pressure sensor for barometric pressure measurement; it is available in six (differential) pressure measuring ranges (±20/ ±150/ ±1000/ ± 5000/ ±8000/ ±18000 mbar).

    S4600 ST provides an easy-to-use menu system with numerous options (such as time, date, language, signals, units, etc.) and features manual and automatic zero calibration as well as automatic instrument checks. A zoom function facilitates readings from a distance. MicroSD/SDHC cards can be used for system-independent storage of measurement logs. The Android and iOS apps "EuroSoft mobile" allow for transfer of measurement results to smartphones and tablets via QR code and for the visualisation of such results. Wireless printer connection via infrared or Bluetooth Smart is also possible. This allows the user to send measurement logs via e-mail. The new pressure measuring instrument S4600 ST is available in five TÜV-tested versions; except for the 18000 mbar measuring instrument, all versions are approved as per EN 50379-2. Optional measurement functions such as data logger, database memory and Pitot measuring program round off the functionality of the devices.

    The new S4600 ST pressure measuring instrument can be used, for example, for measurement of chimney draft, measurement of inlet pressure, flow pressure and nozzle pressure, pressure drop in flowing gases, filter inspection, ventilation systems or ducts, production and extraction facilities, vacuum measurement (laboratory), check of the connection pressure (natural gas supply pipes), burner pressure check, inspection of tanks for liquids (inlet and outlet pressure).     The new AFRISO SonarFox USG 20 ultrasonic level switch is designed for detecting limit levels and monitoring liquids in tanks or pipes with a maximum dynamic viscosity of 10,000 mPa • s. SonarFox USG 20 is ideal for applications in which vibration level switches cannot be used due to the interfering contour "vibration fork". USG 20 offers decisive benefits.     The new AFRISO EUROLYZER STx flue gas analyser is designed for measuring small and medium-sized oil, gas and pellets fired heating systems and modulating CHP systems as well as for checking gas fired systems for CO leaks. The new EUROLYZER STx already uses the latest generation of O2 measuring cells (ECO sensors) on the market. ECO sensors excel with very short calibration and response times, are resistant to biogenous fuels and have a long service life.

    The measuring instrument can be equipped with up to the measuring cells (O2, COH2, NO) and can be used for flue gas analysis, (differential) pressure measurement and (differential) temperature measurement. The device features colour-coded menus (green/flue gas, blue/temperature, yellow/pressure) and a touchpad for maximum ease of use. They can be used with gaseous and liquid, non-adhesive media which are not highly viscous as well as with critical, corrosive media. The pressure gauges are suitable, for example, for monitoring filter elements and pumps in process engineering applications. The magnetic piston pressure gauge MAG 80/100 I Dif (Ø 80 mm or 100 mm) with degree of protection IP 65 features a very compact, robust stainless steel measuring system. The pressure gauges are highly leak-resistant since the pressure chamber and the display are mechanically completely separated. The massive connection block has two lateral female G¼ standard connections; other connection types and process connections can also be provided. MAG 80/100 I Dif is suitable for ambient temperatures from 0 °C to 80 °C and for temperatures of the medium of up to 80 °C.     Company news The new AFRISO TankControl 10 level indicator is designed for continuous level measurement in fuel oil, diesel and water tanks with liquid levels from 1 to up to 4 m. The level indicator consists of a control unit with a graphical display and a submersible probe with pressure measuring cell. The level is measured, stored and converted on a daily basis. This allows for monitoring current consumption values and evaluating consumption behaviour over the last 5 years. The archived data give the user the opportunity to respond acyclically to fuel price fluctuations and refuel when prices are falling. The high-resolution graphical display shows the consumption, the current volume of liquid in the tank (litres, m³, % or liquid level), the last re-fuelling date and and how long the remaining supplies are likely to last. In conjunction with an optional second submersible probe, the system can also be used in communicating tanks (for example, in battery tanks). If an adjustable level difference between probe 1 and probe 2 is exceeded, the system triggers an alarm to help avoid inadvertent overfilling of a tank. When the level falls below or exceeds an adjustable minimum or maximum value, the control unit triggers visual and audible alarms (must be acknowledged). Commissioning is fast and easy since the system is operated via clear menus and standard tank shapes are stored in the device. The control unit can be mounted at a distance of up to 15 m away from the tank; it is supplied with AC 230 V. Two relays are provided to transmit the signals to level controllers or additional alarm equipment such as the AFRISO EMS 220/442 event reporting systems or for integration into building control systems. For additional minimum/maximum or backflow alarms, for example in rainwater harvesting systems, you can also connect a floating probe. The new hydrostatic level indicator is suitable for fuel oil EL, L, diesel fuel, FAME 100 % as biodiesel (EN 14214), water (no drinking water) and similar liquids; it can be used in flood hazard areas.

    Company news The new AFRISO DL 10 data logger with display can display and store up to four independent analogue measured values. DL 10 is a freely programmable digital display unit with comprehensive data logging functionality and integrated supply voltage for 2-wire and 3-wire transmitters. Voltages up to 10 V and current up to 20 mA can be used as input signals for each channel. Each channel can be parameterised independently and each measurement signal is displayed with selectable scaling. In addition, the measured values of each channel can be stored to an SD card via an adjustable timer function. The storage functions can also be triggered via analogue signal threshold values. The parameter level excels with a menu und plain text descriptions for user-friendliness. All values are entered directly via the device, no additional equipment is required. A numerical password can be activated to protect the device from undesired parameter changes. With integrated function blocks such as freely adjustable scaling and maximum pointer function, linearisation, trend indication, selectable quasi analogue bar indication, autoscroll function and a broad supply voltage range with AC 50-253 V and DC 20-253 V, DL 10 meets all demands with regard to a universal, multi-channel process display and extends the display functionality by a data logger.     In sealed heating systems according to EN 12828, each heat generator must be equipped with at least one safety valve to ensure that the maximum operating pressure is not exceeded; the last safety device used is a diaphragm safety valve. In the case of an emergency, the entire boiler power is released in the form of vapour by the diaphragm safety valve. Quick air vents and pressure gauges are also part of the safety equipment of heating systems. A boiler safety group assembly provides a compact combination of these three components.

    The new AFRISO KSG boiler safety group assembly combines three components which are part of the safety equipment of heating system on a single cast brass carrier. KSG consists of a diaphragm safety valve, a pressure gauge and a quick air vent. The safety valve discharges water and water/glycol mixtures at a pressure of 3 bar and more. The pressure gauge indicates the system pressure of the heating system from 0-4 bar, the quick air vent with a nominal pressure of 12 bar continuously and automatically vents the system. The pressure gauge and the quick air vent feature self-sealing mounting valves so the pressure gauge and the quick air vent can be easily replaced if need be. KSG is suitable for temperatures of the medium of up to 120 °C.
    The assembly is connected to the boiler by means of a G1 female thread. The pre-assembled and tightness-tested boiler safety group assembly KSG comes with two form-fit insulation shells for standards-compliant insulation. Mounting time and effort are low. The boiler safety group assembly KSG is suitable for use in sealed heating systems as per EN 12828; version KSG 3 bar for heat generation with a heating capacity of up to 50 kW and version KSG Maxi 3 bar for a heating capacity of up to 100 kW.

    As a measuring and control specialist, AFRISO has been offering a comprehensive range of building technology products for monitoring liquid storage facilities, levels, leaks, gases and smoke for many years with its range of WATCHDOG alarm units. Recently, AFRISO launched its own Smart Building and Smart Home system "AFRISOLab", based on EnOcean wireless technology. Because safety and minimisation of damage are part of the core business of AFRISO, all suitable WATCHDOG units will be EnOcean-ready from now on.

    The latest generation of AFRISO Eurovac HV leak detectors can now be integrated into Smart Home applications by means of an EnOcean wireless module that can be retrofitted. The optional TCM 320 wireless module is plugged into a slot in the leak detector and connected to an EnOcean centre by means of a "Learn" telegram. In the case of an alarm, a message is sent to the smartphone or tablet of the operator so that appropriate action can be taken immediately.

    The new high vacuum AFRISO Eurovac HV leak detector is a vacuum type leak detector as per EN 13160, class I. The leak detector is suitable for safe monitoring of double-walled tanks and single-walled tanks with an inner lining for the storage of non-flammable liquids and flammable liquids with a flash point > 55 °C. The leak detector maintains a vacuum in the interstitial space of the tank via an economical DC motor (energy efficiency class A++) and triggers visual and audible alarms in the case of a leak. The audible alarm can be switched off with the Acknowledge button. The device features a test button for performing function tests and indicating the pump running time, an integrated service indicator for annual maintenance and a switching output for integration into building control systems or connection of additional alarm equipment. The hose connections (red, white, green) are used for the pneumatic connection to the interstitial space of the tank; the connection pieces can be used for 4 mm or 6 mm hoses. Eurovac HV is supplied with AC 100-240 V and suitable for ambient temperatures of –5/+50 °C. For outdoor applications, the device is available in a protective housing or in a protective housing with heating (IP 55).

    The leak detector Eurovac HV is approved for suitable double-walled steel tanks and for all tanks with a leak protection lining as per EN 13160-7. More than 50 liquids such as fuel oil, diesel, AdBlue as per DIN 70070, used oils, engine oils, gearbox oils, hydraulic oils, drilling oils, cutting oils, cooling agents and brake fluid can be monitored. Eurovac HV complies with the German Water Act, the German Directive on Handling Water-polluting Substances (AwSV) and the EC Construction Products Directive, the German Directive on Occupational Safety (BetrSichV), EN 13160-1 and has the Technical Approval of the German Institute for Civil Engineering (DIBt) Z-65.22-4.

    The new automatic AFRISO FloCo-TOP-2 fuel oil de-aerator was designed for continuous de-aeration and filtration of fuel oil, diesel, biofuel and biodiesel with 0-20 % FAME in oil fired heating systems (single-line systems with return supply). The FloCo-TOP-2 series fuel oil de-aerator is extremely popular with installers and features a number of technical innovations: The height of the de-aerator hood has been reduced and the connection for the vent hose is now located at the side so that the unit can be used even if space is very limited. The pressure gauge (service indicator) is now rotatable to facilitate readings.

    The de-aerator is equipped with a plastic de-aerator hood, a zinc die cast housing and a compact plastic filter cup. The de-aerator hood features a dual float safety system which keeps oil foam from escaping. If a vent hose is installed, the de-aerator is odour-tight (PROOFED BARRIER). The die-cast housing contains a changeover valve for single/multiple filtration, a shut-off valve for closing the suction line (for checking the suction capacity of the burner pump), a backflow preventer with pressure relief in the direction of the tank, a bypass valve (to drain the oil when the burner hose is replaced) and a drain system for clean filter change. The pressure gauge (-0.7/0.9 bar) serves as a service indicator since increasing pollution causes the vacuum to rise; as a result, it is easy to see when the filter needs to be changed. FloCo-TOP-2 is suitable for a return flow of up to 120 l/h. The following connections are available: tank side G 3/8 female thread and burner side G 3/8 male thread with 60° cone. The fuel oil de-aerator is TÜV tested and complies with EN 12514-2. The unit is available in five versions and, due to the standard screw connections and the click system, fast and easy to install and can be used with any heating system. The outstanding feature is innovative multiple filtration: the fuel oil returning from the burner is fed either directly to the supply or subjected to additional filtration passes by setting a valve. This continuously increases the fuel oil quality - it surpasses the oil purity levels recommended for state-of-the-art heating systems.

    The new AFRISO MULTILYZER STe flue gas analyser is suitable for flue gas analysis, (differential) pressure measurements and (differential) temperature measurements at small and medium-sized oil, gas and pellets fired systems according to the German Federal Immission Act and for CO concentration checks at gas fired systems and for all measurements and adjustments of solid-fuel systems, in particular for pellets, as well as bivalent, modulating CHP systems. MULTILYZER STe is an ergonomically designed, lightweight handheld measuring instrument with a robust protective sleeve and integrated magnets.     If control projects involve both analogue measured values for detecting and controlling pressure, temperature and level and limit values for signalling, monitoring and controlling, multifunction transducers (MFUs) are the ideal solution. They are used in many industrial processes as well in applications such as plant engineering, well measurement, dosing and pressure control, filling systems, level and temperature monitoring, heating systems and air conditioning, laboratories, test facilities and control cabinet/switch rooms.

    The new digital multipurpose transducers MFU 12 and MFU 14 from AFRISO are freely programmable digital transducers with two analogue outputs and 2 or 4 voltage-free relays, depending on the version. The standard version of the transducers and additional options allow you to implement solutions for almost all tasks involved in modern evaluation systems. The parameters are set either directly at the transducer or via the optional configuration software MFU 03-S, which is available with interface cable and USB adapter. The inputs are bipolar current and voltage inputs and a potentiometer input (3-wire technology). In addition, a 2-/3-wire transmitter supply is integrated. All inputs are galvanically isolated from the voltage and the current / voltage outputs. The two analogue outputs can be scaled separately and used simultaneously. For switching tasks, MFU 12 features 2 relay outputs; MFU 14 has 4 relay outputs (voltage-free changeover contacts, max. switch rating 250 V AC, 2 A and 50 V DC, 2 A). Selectable functions include energising/de-energising, hysteresis, window or trend as well as delays for energising/de-energising. The transducer MFU 12/14 has a DIN rail housing with integrated multicolour (R/G/B) lit LC display for the various operating modes. The lighting can be switched off. The values to be measured can be selected from a list including specification of range and unit or they can be configured and scaled as a user-defined unit with ranges from 0 to 9999 digits. The input resolution is 13 bits, the output resolution 10 bits. In addition, linearisations are possible via 24 free X/Y points and the modes "table, cylinder, sphere". Available user interface languages are English, French and German. The following additional functions are available: Error alarm in the case of missing or defective sensor, zoom function, spread, inverted mode, trend indication, learning mode measuring range, automatic or manual simulation, configuration lock, measurement signal monitoring with up to 4 freely adjustable limit values and programming interface. The new MFU 12/14 operates reliably in all supply voltage ranges AC (DC) 20-253 V, features plug-in, codeable terminal blocks and responds to numerous challenges in universal, safe measured value acquisition.

    The new AFRISO pressure transducer DMU 02 Vario with field housing can now also be used in rough ambient conditions. The non-wetted parts are designed in such a way as to allow for easy cleaning of the transducer in the process environment. DMU 02 Vario excels with superior dynamics and high long-term stability as well as outstanding resistance to vibrations and pressure. Seals are not required since the measuring cell is directly welded to the process connection. Versions with an open process connection do not need hydraulic transfer fluid so that DMU 02 Vario is the perfect solution for oil- and grease-free applications as well as pressure measurements of fluids. If flush pressure connections are required in the process, a second diaphragm is mounted in front of the measuring cell. The Vario diaphragm systems are filled with special transfer liquids, depending on the application; they are also hermetically sealed by means of welding. The possibility of diffusion of the transfer liquid out of the system or of the measured medium into the system is excluded.

    The series DMU 02 Vario pressure transducers feature stainless steel housings and stainless steel connections; they are available for the ranges -1/0 bar and 0/250 mbar up to 0/2,000 bar. The pressure transducers are supplied with 12 to 32 V DC, they are suitable for temperatures of the measured medium from -40 to 125 °C and they supply 4-20 mA or 0-10 V output signals. Other electrical connections or output signals as well as customer-specific and industry-specific process connections are available as options.     The new AFRISO rainwater system centre RWSC II is a further development of RWSC, a complete solution for rainwater harvesting which was launched in 2005 and convinced the market with its superior performance and robustness. The new version RWSC II features a servo-controlled diaphragm valve with a vertical linear guide to ensure maximum reliability, superior durability and a long service life. RWSC II can be used as a fully automatic rainwater harvesting system together with plastic and concrete rainwater storage tanks as well as rainwater storage tanks converted from fuel oil tanks. RWSC II primarily uses rainwater from the cistern to water the garden, flush toilets and do the laundry. If there is not enough rainwater in the rainwater storage tank, RWSC II automatically switches over to mains water backup and supplies drinking water (probe-controlled).

    A fuel tank with its own supply of energy provides peace of mind, and a tank contents indicator provides a clear reading of the level in the tank. The better you know your fuel oil supply and the development of the fuel oil price, the better you can determine the optimum refuelling date and volume. The great advantage of a fuel oil tank is especially beneficial in energy-saving buildings. If the building is well insulated and uses solar energy, the conventional heating system is only required occasionally. In such a scenario, it makes sense to use a type of energy, which is readily available without incurring high running costs. An oil fired heating system is particularly useful since, as opposed to gas and electricity, no basic charges apply. Oil fired heating systems are also gaining popularity because wood as a fuel has become increasingly expensive.

    The new AFRISO DTA 10 digital tank contents indicator is used for level measurement in fuel or water tanks and for non-corrosive liquids with a density between 0.5 – 1.5 g/cm³. DTA 10 consists of a mains-independent display unit with a digital display for mounting in rooms and a measuring line (20 m) with bottom part for the tank. The measuring instrument is supplied via a 9 V monobloc battery, i.e. the user does not need a 230 V outlet to obtain accurate measuring results (+/- 1 cm liquid column, not officially calibrated). It is also possible to connect the device to existing measuring lines of other pneumatic level indicators. Commissioning the digital tank contents indicator is very easy using the three control buttons at the front: Via an intuitive menu, the user sets the language (English, French, German), the medium (fuel oil, water, variable), the tank shape (linear, spherical, horizontal cylindrical), the tank height (0 cm to 400 cm), the volume (0 to 99,999 litres) and the alarm threshold (0 % to 100 %). In the case of other tanks shapes (e.g. battery tanks), it is possible to take the information from the bearing charts of the tank manufacturer. After that, the DTA 10 tank contents indicator is ready for operation. To take measurements, it is sufficient to press the control button "Start Measurement", wait a few seconds and read the result. If the device measures a value that is below an adjustable minimum level, a visual alarm is triggered (the display changes/flashes). The scope of delivery contains all part required for easy and fast installation.

    It takes little effort and investment to avoid major water damage in apartments, houses or company buildings – and without tearing open walls and causing noise and dirt. Radio-controlled, battery-less water sensors placed on the floors of rooms (containing, for example, water pipes, bathtubs, showers, washing machines, dishwashers, washbasins, toilets, etc.) detect leaks and send a signal to a motorised shut-off valve which, in turn, shuts off the water pipe to keep further water from escaping.

    The new motorised, radio-controlled shut-off valve WaterControl 01 from AFRISO remotely closes and opens water pipes in frost-free rooms. WaterControl consists of a robust control unit with integrated EnOcean wireless module as well as a ball valve (approved for drinking water as per DVGW) with an electric motor. The system is available for various pipe diameters with the following connection threads: G¾, G1, G1¼ and G1½ (female thread). The control unit, which can be supplied with 100-240 V AC, supplies the electric motor of the ball valve with 24 V DC by means of a pre-connected cable. WaterControl 01 is suitable for ambient temperatures from –10 °C to 50 °C and water temperatures from 4 °C to 80 °C and can be operated via the keypad with status display of the control unit and via EnOcean wireless. WaterControl 01 offers a range of possibilities because it can be connected to several devices at the same time, for example, to an EnOcean centre, to the water sensors "Watersensor con" and "Watersensor eco" as well as to EnOcean ON/OFF switches. Teaching in the device is easy and takes just a few seconds.
    Users with mobile devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs can open and close the shut-off valve via an EnOcean from anywhere in the world. The water sensors automatically monitor the rooms in which they are positioned for leaking water and close the shut-off valve. An EnOcean ON/OFF switch that can simply be glued onto the wallpaper and that generates its energy from the press of a button can be used to open and close the valve, depending on whether the user wants to leave the house (for an extended period of time) or has come back home. AFRISO will equip further products with the new EnOcean wireless technology, for example, the alarm and monitoring units of the WATCHDOG series.

    The cosmetics, food, beverages, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries use highly complex, sterile processes which necessitate compliance with stringent hygienic requirements. All wetted parts, i.e. materials coming into contact with the medium, must have been classified as hygienic and suitable for the appropriate processes. Under normal circumstances, chemical seals are used for measuring tasks in such processes. AFRISO provides a range of EHEDG-certified chemical seals (type EL class I).

    The AFRISO stainless steel diaphragm pressure gauges PF100CP and PF160CP have no filling liquid. They can be used instead of chemical seals for pressure measurement in gaseous, liquid, corrosive and highly viscous media in hygienic processes, e.g. biotechnology, food or pharmaceutical applications, if the filling liquid contained in chemical seals is unwanted for some reason. The ranges cover 0/1 bar to 0/6 bar, the accuracy class is 1.6 (EN 837-3). The PF100CP and PF160CP pressure gauges are suitable for temperatures of the medium of up to +130 °C and ambient temperatures from –20 °C to 60 °C. The robust, compact measuring gauges use a flush mounted diaphragm without transmission liquid. The deflection of the diaphragm is mechanically transferred to a movement and indicated. The diaphragm is welded to the process connection, which results in an inseparable shock- and vibration-resistant unit without a seal. This keeps the risk of leaks to a minimum and ensures high long-term stability. Pollution of the fluid to be measured can be almost completely excluded. The pressure gauges are connected to the process by means of a clamp connection; optional VARIVENT or BioControl connections, open connection flanges and other connections are also available. In addition, the pressure gauge can be provided with electrical contacts and special coatings.

    The base version of the system consists of a backflow preventer, filter combination with fine filter and pressure reducer, drain unit for connection to the wastewater system, three supply outlets, safety valve and all function components. The filter combination features an innovative backwashing system with rotating impeller which ensures thorough cleaning of the fine filter and low water consumption. The filter keeps dirt particles from reaching the domestic water installation to protect against malfunctions.     The SolarControl microprocessor controls and visualises all program functions (solar control, temperature limitation, cooling down mode, defrosting function, frost protection and holiday function). The temperature probe and the pump are supplied directly via the unit; no additional wiring is required. A conductivity probe can be connected so that it is possible to monitor for the accumulation of liquid in the collector tank for solar liquid. Signals from alarm equipment (e.g. for system overpressure or pressure loss) can be connected via four digital inputs; customisable text messages can be assigned to the signals.     Emission control legislation is becoming ever more stringent, even for small combustion systems, in particular, for example, for systems fired with solid biofuels. This brings about new challenges for chimney sweeps, heating system engineers and service technicians as the need to offer additional services. This, however, requires a knowledge of new measuring principles and new measuring equipment. The challenge for heating system engineers and service technicians lies in optimising numerous smaller solid-fuel systems so that they operate efficiently and meet the new limit values.

    The completely newly developed AFRISO STM 225 dust measuring instrument operates on the basis of the scattered light principle and can be used to measure particulate matter emissions of solid-fuel combustion systems. This optical measuring principle is based on the fact that light which hits particles scatters in a specific way. Sensors detect the light and the device evaluates the corresponding signals. The STM 225 dust measuring instrument has none of the disadvantages of other well-known measuring principles such as filter replacement, extensive preparation and postprocessing or measuring errors caused by shocks or vibration.

    The device is ready for measurements after a short heat-up phase. During measurements, the measured values are continuously displayed. Measurements can be interrupted at any time and resumed after a calibration phase of 15 seconds. STM 225 is a lightweight, portable dust measuring instrument featuring easy, intuitive operation. It allows the chimney sweep to efficiently perform measurements and monitor systems for compliance with limit values. The heating system engineer benefits from STM 225 in optimising combustion systems in terms of minimum emissions.

    The device excels with low cost of ownership; maintenance is limited to cleaning of the optical system and the sampling system - both tasks can be done by the user. The speed of the system saves money on each measurement: there is practically no way to take faster, easier or more cost-effective measurements. The new STM 225 dust measuring instrument can be used in stand-alone mode or in conjunction with the flue gas analyser MULTILYZER NG designed for oil fired and gas fired system.

    Company news Oil, petrol and grease pose a great danger to groundwater and waste water. In order to achieve the maximum possible degree of safety, oil separators, petrol separators and grease separators affected by such poisonous substances can be equipped or retrofitted with an additional alarm unit to monitor for level, overfilling, layer thickness or sludge. Overfilling which often results from clogged outlets can be detected at an early stage. This helps prevent environmentally harmful substances from reaching the sewage system, and that at minimum cost.

    The new AFRISO WGA 01 D alarm unit monitors the thickness of the layer of separated liquids in oil, petrol and grease separators and generates an alarm signal when it is time to drain the separator. In addition, it is possible to monitor the maximum permissible level in the separator to avoid overfilling caused, for example, by a clogged outlet. It is also possible to signal impermissible sand or sludge accumulations. WGA 01 D consists of a control unit with LC display and the capacitance probe WGA-ES4 to monitor the layer thickness of oil and grease. The PTC thermistor probe WGA-R6 for monitoring the maximum level (overflow alarm) and/or the ultrasonic probe WGA-ES8 for monitoring for impermissible sand or sludge layers at the bottom of the separator can also be connected. The control unit is equipped with 2 relay outputs, visual and audible alarms as well as Test and Acknowledge buttons. The WGA-ES4 probe is mounted at least 150 mm below the constant level of the separator. As soon as the oil, petrol or grease layer reaches the critical level, the device generates an alarm signal. By installing the optional WGA-R6 probe above the constant level, you can also monitor the maximum level. The control unit permanently monitors the probes for short circuits or line interruptions. The device automatically detects the connected probes during commissioning. WGA 01 D is supplied with AC 230 V and suitable for temperatures of the medium from -20 °C to +40 °C. The control unit WGA 01, the probe WGA-ES4 shipped with the device and the optional probes WGA-R6 and WGA-ES8 are approved for operation in hazardous areas/potentially explosive atmospheres.

    Company news Corrosion can cause leaks in single-walled and double-walled tanks. If the storage medium gets into the groundwater, this may result in massive damage to the environment and dire consequences for the person in charge. If the new AFRISO Eurovac HV leak detector is properly installed, operated and maintained, such disastrous accidents can be almost fully excluded.

    The new AFRISO Eurovac HV vacuum type leak detector is a class 1 leak detector as per EN 13160. The device is suitable for indicating leaks in unpressurised tanks for aboveground or underground storage of water-polluting liquids with a flash point of > 55 °C (formerly danger class AIII) which do not become viscous and which do not form solid matter deposits. Eurovac HV is approved for the following tanks: double-walled steel tanks as per EN 12285-1/-2, DIN 6618-2/-4, DIN 6619-2, DIN 6623-2, DIN 6624-2, DIN 6608, DIN 6616 and DIN 6625 and for single-walled steel tanks or plastic tanks with an inner lining (as a leak protection lining); all of these tanks must have an approval of the German Institute for Building Technology for connection of a vacuum type leak detector such as the new Eurovac HV. The new Eurovac HV leak detector contains the following elements in a compact plastic housing: all display elements and controls, a vacuum pump, a pressure sensor, a filter and hose connections for the connection to the interstitial space of the tank in which an operating pressure of approx. -400 mbar is maintained. Eurovac HV has proven itself over decades - the new version comes with a number of improvements: the vacuum pump is now driven by an economical DC motor with a high starting torque (energy efficiency class A++). A pump operating time indicator is contained in the inside of the housing. The noise level has been reduced. The device features visual and audible alarms with an Acknowledge button, a test button for function tests, a service indicator for annual maintenance and a switching output for building control systems. The new hose connection technology ensures permanently improved tightness; coloured connection pieces allow for easy connection of the 4 mm or 6 mm hoses without confusion. The sintered plastic filter in the condensate trap indicates the degree of pollution and can be replaced from the outside. Electrical connection is possible from the top or the bottom. An optional 9 V battery triggers an alarm in the case of a power failure. The address of the installing company can be printed on the unit. The design corresponds to that of the AFRISO product family; the appearance not only ensures customer confidence, but also underpins the professionalism of the specialised company. The leak detector is suitable for ambient temperatures from -5/+50 °C and supplied with AC 100-240 V. For outdoor applications, Eurovac HV is available in a protective housing or in a protective housing with heating (IP 55). Eurovac HV has the Technical Approval Z-65.22-4 of the German Institute for Building Technology (DIBt).

    Company news Picture: The new AFRISO SonarFox UST 10 ultrasonic transmitter is a compact non-contact level indicator which works reliably even under adverse conditions (for example, vapours or stirrers).

    The new AFRISO SonarFox UST 10 ultrasonic transmitter was designed for continuous, non-contact level measurement of liquids and bulk solids with various consistencies and surfaces. The level indicator uses the physical properties of ultrasonic waves to determine the level. An ultrasonic wave is emitted and reflected by objects in the sound cone. The time up to the reception of the reflected echo is a measure of the level. Type, density and temperature of the medium as well as installations or stirrers below a suitable level surface of the medium do not affect the measurement. Diffuse surfaces, for example with cones or foam, are not suitable. If foam cannot be avoided, the ultrasonic level indicator must be installed above the point least susceptible to foam formation and subjected to a test run. SonarFox UST 10 also allows for flow measurement in open channels, rain catchment basins, partially filled pipes, tanks, basins and weirs. The device is suitable for temperatures of the medium from -30 to 90 °C and process pressures from 0.5 to 3 bar; it uses 2-wire technology (4-20 mA, DC 12-36 V). A switching relay is optionally available (for example, for controlling rakes and gates in sewage treatment plants and power plants). All display elements and function keys are arranged below the housing cover for easy access; this way, the unit is fast and easy to commission. Even the basic version provides full functionality. The optional PD10 UST local display can be integrated. The programming display PD10 UST allows the user to set up all functions such as measuring configurations, optimisation, 32-point linearisation, time delays or access to different tank or channel types and various units on the 6-digit LC display. The level indicator is available for the three measuring ranges 0.2 to 4 m, 0.25 to 6 m and 0.35 to 8 m with a measuring accuracy 0.25 %. The robust ultrasonic level indicator has no moving parts, is completely maintenance-free and not subject to wear; it is the perfect solution for level measurement in open and closed tanks and areas.

    The new AFRISO ZAG 01 additional alarm unit can be used to display and transmit alarm signals from AFRISO alarm units or leak detectors as well as other switching equipment. ZAG 01 can be connected to a voltage-free output contact or to a 230 V alarm output of an alarm unit via a signal cable. The alarm unit generates visual and audible alarm signals; the audible alarm can be muted by means of an Acknowledge button. The visual alarm remains active until the cause of the alarm has been remedied. The ZAG 01 alarm signal can also be transferred to external equipment (alarm devices, communication devices, building control units, etc.) via two output relays
    (2 voltage-free changeover contacts, 1 can be acknowledged). A test button allows for function checks (it is recommended to perform a function check at regular intervals). The control unit in an impact-resistant plastic housing contains all display elements and controls as well as all electronic components for evaluating the alarm signal. ZAG 01 is suitable for ambient temperatures from

    The AFRISO WATCHDOG boiler water low level alarm WMS monitors the water level in heating systems as per EN 12828. If the water level drops below a minimum level, WMS triggers an alarm and the boiler is switched off. The complete WMS boiler water low level alarm consists of a control unit and a probe which are connected by means of a two-core signal cable with a maximum length of 50 m. The control unit is supplied with AC 230 V. It contains all display and control elements as well as a voltage-free output relay for transmitting the signal, for example to an alarm unit or event reporting systems. WMS is fail-safe and self-monitoring; in addition to low water levels, it signals wire breaks or errors in the probe circuits. WMS is suitable for ambient temperatures of 0 °C to 55 °C, for heating water temperatures of up to 120 °C and for water pressures of up to 10 bar. The WMS boiler water low level alarm is available in various versions: With internal power failure lock (after a power failure, the control unit must be reset) or with an external power failure lock (the control unit is automatically reset after a power failure). A button (normally open) may be connected at a distance of up to 200 m to the control unit for external resetting. The probe is available in 2 versions: The probe version DN 20 with angular brass housing and a plastic housing top with an electrode rod that can be pulled for testing the function of the unit. DN 20 features two welding sockets (DN 20) for installation. The probe version R 2 has an electrode housing made of galvanised steel and a threaded socket (R 2 male thread) for screw connection.     Today, large process engineering plants are hardly conceivable without complex process control systems and safety automation control systems. However, in many cases less effort also does the trick. If, for example, it is only required to measure the level in a tank and signal excessively high or low levels to a master control system, the perfect solution is an AFRISO series DA display unit which involves a much lower investment.

    The new AFRISO DA 10, DA 12 and DA 14 digital display units are suitable for displaying measured values and evaluating and controlling standard signals (4-20 mA, 0-20 mA, 0-1 V, 0-10 V) from electronic transducers especially in level applications. The connected transducer is supplied with galvanically isolated 20 V direct voltage; the measuring input can be configured as a current input or as a voltage input. The user interface with selectable display languages (English, German, French, Italian) ensures fast commissioning. Bearing charts for all standard cylindrical, horizontal tanks and spherical tanks are pre-programmed. A 24-point linearisation can be calculated for non-linear tanks and special tanks so that the volume can be displayed, for example, in litres. In addition to pre-programmed units, it is possible to set up custom display units. The units are scalable and shown as bar charts. All physical analogue values are shown on the display to monitor the inputs and outputs. The display shows a blinking error message if values are exceeded. A large, grey display with white backlight and five-digit graphical indication provides excellent readability. The automatic off function for the display backlight is adjustable. The robust display units DA 10, DA 12 and DA 14 have a standard rack mounting housing (96 x 48 mm) and can be supplied with 20–253 V DC/AC. Even the basic version DA 10 features a galvanically isolated analogue current output. Depending on the device version DA 12 and DA 14, the units feature up to 4 voltage-free relay outputs as limit switches (e.g. for pumps, valves, etc.) and 2 galvanically isolated analogue outputs. Additional supply, display, control and evaluation units are not required.

    AFRISO has launched a new line of test sets for all typical test tasks for gas, oil, solar and water installations. The new DPK 60 series includes the cost-effective, mechanical test set DPK 60-5, the digital test set DPK 60-6 and the all-round leak test set DPK 60-7; it has been designed for inspections of gas pipes as per DVGW TRGI 2008 and for inspections of drinking water pipes as per ZVSHK. The units can also be used to perform tightness tests of oil pipes (TRÖL), oil pumps as well as heating systems and solar systems. The open device concept allows for modular extensions so additional tests, for example of waste water pipes, can be performed.

    The new AFRISO DPK 60-7 leak test set comprises the measuring instrument DPK 60-7 with all hoses pre-connected in a robust system case, a syringe and pump with shut-off valves and pressure connection as well as various test plugs; it can be equipped with an optional thermal printer. DPK 60-7 can be used to measure the pressure of gaseous media in non-hazardous areas. The DPK 60-7 measuring instrument complies with the DVGW requirements as per TRGI-2008 for measuring instruments of device class D; it may be used for tightness tests as well as load tests and evaluation of serviceability/determination of amount of gas leakage. DPK 60-7 features an integrated barometric pressure sensor, connections for an external pressure sensor (e.g. for drinking water pipes) and a temperature probe (type K). The digital pressure measuring instrument DPK 60-7 excels with high measuring accuracy. Its large TFT display provides excellent readability even under adverse light conditions. The instrument is very easy to use due to its logical user interface which guides the user though the individual steps after he has started one of the programs "Load Test", "Tightness Test", "Evaluation of Serviceability (Determination of Amount of Gas Leakage)" and "Pressure Measurement"; the end of the measurement is indicated by an audible signal. The results are stored on a MicroSD card. DPK 60-7 can store up to 100 measurement logs. A standard MicroSD card (max. 16 GB) used as a system-independent storage medium provides high flexibility for managing measured data which can also be imported into PCs, laptops and notebooks. DPK 60-7 is equipped with a powerful lithium-ion battery for continuous measurements of up to 30 hours; it is charged via a power supply unit shipped with the device.

    Small particles such as rust particles, sand grains or hemp can enter the domestic water installation along with drinking water. While such particles may not be unhealthy, they can cause corrosion in the form of pitting, clog shower heads or aerators and interfere with the correct operation of fittings. A water filter removes such particles and effectively protects the installation from malfunctions caused by pollution.

    The new AFRISO WAF 02 R backwashable water filter with pressure reducer has been designed to protect drinking water installations against corrosion as per DIN 1988 and prevents the ingress of pollutants (such as rust, sand, hemp). The water filter protects, for example, flow heaters, valves or machines against malfunctions caused by dirt. WAF 02 R is not DVGW-tested, but the materials are physiologically unobjectionable and comply with the German Drinking Water Act. The fitting consists of a brass filter head with integrated pressure reducer and pressure gauge as well as a transparent filter cup with a 7" filter insert. A rotatable brass connection piece enables installation in horizontal or vertical pipes, even if the pipe is very close to a wall. The pressure reducer is adjustable from 1.5 to 6 bar to ensure an even outlet pressure/system pressure. The pressure gauge (0-10 bar, optionally available with pressure gauge 0-16 bar) indicates the outlet pressure and features a rotatable window that allows the user to mark the date of the last backwashing. The degree of pollution can also be easily detected through the transparent filter cup. The water filter is backwashed via a drain valve. The direction of flow through the filter insert is reversed and the dirt particles are flushed out. The filter should be backwashed every 2 months. The WAF 02 R water filter is optionally available with a backflow preventer, which keeps water from flowing back into the public water supply, and with a replaceable filter insert. WAF 02 R is suitable for water temperatures of up to 30 °C, inlet pressures of up to 16 bar and outlet pressures of up to 6 bar. Rotatable G3/4 or G1 connections allow for fast and easy retrofitting or replacement of old or defective water filters.

    The best, most innovative, fastest, most accurate device ever! This type of advertising lingo does not guarantee that the solution will actually meet the user's requirements. For example, guided micropulse technology is regarded as the all-rounder in level measurement. Of course, it is a proven measuring principle that most manufacturers make use of in a similar way. However, the physical basis of the devices will remain the same, even if some manufacturers try to convey the impression that they have re-invented the wheel with their products in terms of shape, colour, features or benefits. Yet more innovative, better, faster, more accurate and ... rounder than last year.

    Company news In order to even better meet the requirements of the pharmaceutical, food and biotechnology industries, AFRISO has obtained an EHEDG certification for its diaphragm seals MD 52 (DIN 11864-1, -2, -3), MD 56 (NEUMO BioControl) and MD 63 (VARINLINE / VARIVENT). The EHEDG (EUROPEAN HYGIENIC ENGINEERING & DESIGN GROUP) examines the hygienic engineering and design of machines, parts and assemblies for open and seal processes for processing and packing food. Important aspects comprise easy cleanability, self-draining and metal stops for process connections with elastomer seals. Precisely designed and calculated distances of the stops ensure that the seals are only used as intended. Gap dimensions for cleanable gaps are kept and the expansion of the seals into the process is reliably prevented. The parts of the chemical seal coming into contact with the process are made of hygienic, high-grade chrome-nickel steel (1.4404/1.4435, AISI 316 L) with a gap-free surface quality of Ra < 0.8 µm. Even the welding seams meet this value. The Research Center Weihenstephan for Brewing and Food Quality of the Technical University Munich TUM carried out the certification. The chemical seals MD 52, MD 56 and MD 63 are certified pieces of equipment as per EHEDG type EL class I and are suitable for cleaning in process (CIP). All AFRISO pressure measuring instruments such as pressure gauges, pressure transducers and pressure switches can be welded to the chemical seals. Various instrument adapters are available for the connection of third-party equipment.

    Company news Picture: The new AFRISO GSP3 and GSP3 Flex gas detectors detect even minimum leaks at gas pipes and connections, gas meters, gas burners and gas tanks; they are suitable, for example, for inspections of gas systems in buildings or for gas checks.

    The new portable AFRISO GSP3 and GSP3 Flex gas detectors are designed for fast and reliable detection of leaks of inflammable gases at gas pipes and connections (screw connections, fittings, flanges), gas meters, gas burners and gas tanks. The GSP3 gas detector detects even minimal leaks and is extremely easy to use. To allow for the detection of leaks in areas difficult to access, GSP3 Flex is equipped with a flexible gas probe. The high-sensitivity sensor is suitable for the detection of a wide range of different inflammable gases such as methane, propane or butane. Moving the sensor over an area where a leak is suspected leads to qualitative detection of points where gas is escaping. The intensity of the escaping gas is indicated by three LEDs and an audible signal which is proportional to the gas concentration. The detector automatically switches off after four minutes. The sensor of GSP3 is protected against contamination for a very long service life. The measuring range (methane) of the sensor covers 0 to 2,000 ppm at a sensitivity of 20 to 50 ppm. GSP3 features a battery life of up to ten hours; it is supplied by two 1.5 V alkaline batteries (AA).
    A robust protective housing protects the instrument against shocks and dirt. The new GSP3 gas detector can be used, for example, for gas concentration measurements in rooms, inspection of gas systems in buildings, routine checks or gas checks.

    Company news Rainwater harvesting has become a key issue as a result of increasing awareness in terms of environmental protection, energy resources and costs. These topics take centre stage in the media - and they deserve to do so. Frequently, fuel oil tanks are simply decommissioned when buildings or heating systems are renovated or modernised. But if you own an old steel tank, you already have one of the two main components for a rainwater harvesting system - a tank and a control system. Today, it is very easy to convert a fuel oil tank into a rainwater storage tank using an inner lining with magnets.

The picture shows the service technician standing on the bottom fleece layer and fitting the lining. The lining will soon be inflated like a balloon using a blower and the magnets will click into position at the tank wall exactly where planned.

    The new, patented AFRISO AR-SM inner lining with magnets allows owners to convert a decommissioned steel tank into a rainwater storage tank with very little effort.
    AR-SM is a very robust PVC lining with flat, round, extremely powerful neodymium magnets welded into it. The PVC lining is reliably held at the inner wall - no pressure is required inside the tank. The lining is a high-grade alternative to today's costly tank linings. A steel tank can be conveniently converted into a rainwater storage tank: First, the tank is measured and then a precisely fitting lining is manufactured. After the lining has been made in an AFRISO plant, the tank is prepared on the basis of a defined procedure (thorough cleaning of the tank, corrosion checks, etc.); depending on the condition of the tank, a fleece layer is placed on the tank floor for impact protection. Then the AR-SM lining is fitted in the tank and inflated by means of a blower; if necessary, the final fit is achieved by means of a vacuum pump. When the PVC lining is inflated, the magnets click into place exactly where planned. After the inflation procedure, the lining may require some final adjustment. The fit of the lining is checked and then it is fastened in the manhole by means of a fastening ring. After installation, the tank is ready to store rainwater; it can now be equipped with additional components required for rainwater harvesting such as a plastic manhole cover, suction fitting, inlet and overflow, filter, level indicator and pump. The rainwater lining AR-SM is suitable for storing rainwater in cylindrical steel tanks (3,000 –100,000 litres) and in rectangular steel tanks (3,000 – 30,000 litres).

    Rainwater is an extremely valuable resource. But why not benefit from the rainwater yourself instead of paying the ever increasing water prices charged by utilities?
    AFRISO now provides a new, more powerful version of the proven RWSC rainwater system centre that can draw water from cisterns as far away as 40 metres. The new RWSC can be used as a fully automatic rainwater harvesting system together with all standard rainwater storage tanks (plastic and concrete cisterns) as well as rainwater storage tanks converted from fuel oil tanks. If possible, RWSC lets you use rainwater from the cistern to water the garden, flush toilets and do the laundry. If there is not enough rainwater in the rainwater tank, RWSC automatically switches over to mains water backup and supplies drinking water (probe-controlled). A short rain shower is usually sufficient for RWSC to switch back to rainwater mode (standard mode). This probe signals backwater conditions and keeps polluted rainwater from getting into the domestic installation. RWSC is a robust control unit that combines all components such as three-way valve, centrifugal pump or Jet pump (550/750 W), pressure switch, processor units and displays on top of the backup tank for easy access and maintenance. The ergonomic handheld measuring instrument features a protective sleeve with a magnet at the back side to allow for hands-free operation. A large TFT display is provided for user-friendly visualisation and simultaneous indication of four measured values.     The new AFRISO KD21 piston type chemical seal, an extremely robust unit, can be used to measure the pressure of abrasive media in conjunction with a Bourdon tube pressure gauge, a pressure transducer or a pressure switch. The KD21 piston type chemical seal operates under the most adverse conditions, for example drilling platforms, mining, tunnel construction, systems for removal of excavated material, concrete pumps, mortar spraying machines or for processing ceramic materials. KD 21 features a 6 mm thick stainless steel piston; conventional diaphragms of chemical seals wear too fast as a result of permanent contact with abrasive solids in such applications. The measuring system (chemical seal, mounting, measuring instrument) is highly reliable since the chemical seal and the measuring instrument are welded together to form an inseparable, shock- and vibration-resistant unit. The KD 21 chemical seal is filled with biologically non-hazardous paraffin oil (FM 9); it is designed for media temperatures of -10 °C to 80 °C and available for pressure ranges from 0/10 bar to 0/600 bar. The accuracy of the measuring result is not affected by a reduced thickness of the membrane occurring as a result of the process. Due to its compact design, the KD 21 chemical seal can be combined with a great variety of mechanical and electronic pressure measuring instruments.     Company news A large majority of the substances used in the industry and even in private households can pollute the water. If these substances get into the soil, the groundwater or surface waters, this may be detrimental to the drinking water and result in ecological catastrophes.
    In Germany alone, there were 2313 accidents involving water-polluting substances in the year 2009.
    A total of 7.1 million litres of water-polluting substances were released into the environment as a result of these accidents – this corresponds to the capacity of approximately 280 road tankers. Facilities for the storage of water-polluting substances must therefore be safeguarded against such incidents. In addition to the ecological results, anybody causing such an accident may face extreme liability claims.

    The AFRISO WATCHDOG ÖWU water alarm was designed to detect oil or water accumulations. ÖWU consists of a control unit and a wall rail probe which are connected by means of a signal cable. The control unit contains all display and control elements as well as two relay contacts (1 changeover contact, 1 normally open contact). The height-adjustable probe is mounted at the lowest point of the area to be monitored.     The new AFRISO CoFox CMG 01 level indicator is used for continuous high-accuracy level measurement in tanks containing liquid, electrically conductive media (-40/+150 °C). CoFox CMG 01 operates on the basis of the potentiometric measuring principle and is therefore independent of changes in pressure, temperature and density. The level indicator has been designed for tanks and containers with liquid levels from 200 to 6,000 mm; the probe length can be between 200 mm and 6,000 mm. The smallest adjustable range is > 10 mm (e.g. 0/11 mm). The measuring range is adjustable over the entire probe length. The measuring accuracy amounts to ± 1 % FS at a resolution of < 0.1 %. The new CoFox CMG 01 is suitable for process pressures of 150 bar at fluid temperatures of 20 °C and for pressures of up to 25 bar at fluid temperatures of 150 °C. The electronic system which is integrated in a robust stainless steel field housing is supplied with DC 8–30 V and supplies a 4-20 mA signal. The probe and the process connection are made of stainless steel 316 Ti. The instrument is screwed into the tank via an R3/4 thread. The mounting position is detected automatically. Error messages are according to NAMUR recommendation. The CoFox CMG 01 level indicator is suitable for hygienic processes; depending on the application, it is available with monoprobe, coaxial probe and dual probe. Special probe designs and materials, other process connections and HART protocol can also be provided. The level indicator is fast and easy to install and commission.

    The new AFRISO radio remote alarm unit WGL 01 W has been designed to signal maximum filling levels, for example, in flood risk areas, waters, control shafts, open gutters or sewage tanks. The alarm unit WGL 01 W consists of a control unit with integrated visual and audible alarms, Acknowledge button and a voltage-free output relay as well as a probe with a connected transmitter (3 V battery). A jumper lets the user configure the interval at which signals are transmitted (433 MHz): every 30 seconds or every 10 minutes. The operating radius from the probe to the control unit is 150 m; however, transmission distances up to 650 m are also possible. The control unit controls and monitors all functions. Once the probe comes into contact with the liquid, the transmitter sends an alarm signal to the control unit which immediately triggers an audible alarm.     MFM 20 is particularly suitable for chimney sweeps since measurement of the moisture content of the fuel is an integral part of the commissioning inspection, of each regular measurement and of the furnace inspections (in Germany as per the German Federal Immission Act (1st BImSchV)).

    The moisture content determines the quality of logwood: the greater the moisture content, the greater the emission of organic compounds and dust via the flue gas and the lower the calorific value. Therefore, the water content is to be limited to a maximum of 20 % (25 % fuel moisture content) for log-fired systems. MFM 20 uses electrical conductivity to measure the moisture. This is a proven measuring principle in use for many years. A hammer electrode is used as a sensor. These sensors yield much better results than needles. The sensors are considerably more robust to enable practical, real-world measurements in hardwood such as beech and oak. The software of MFM 20 comes with 466 characteristics for wood types and 28 for construction materials which dramatically facilitates working with the instrument. A wide variety of accessories such as probes for pellets, wood chips, screed, plaster, concrete, gypsum, brickwork, etc. turns MFM 20 into a highly versatile unit suitable for a broad range of applications. MFM 20 also features a standard type K connection for an additional temperature sensor. The measured value is automatically considered in the evaluation. Suitable type K sensors allow for rapid temperature measurements at the wood surface. The automatic Hold function ensures high-accuracy measurements even in the case of variations which may be caused by, for example, electrostatic charges.     The new AFRISO HMS Fuel Oil Alarm is designed to detect fuel oil in rooms and drip pans, manhole pits, pipe or cable ducts as well as pump and control stations. The HMS Fuel Oil Alarm consists of a connector housing with integrated transducer and power outlet (e.g. for connection of an oil pump) and an optoelectronic probe which is available with a cable length of 0.75 m or 2 m, depending on the application requirements. Spare probes with cable lengths of 10 m or 30 m are optionally available. The HMS Fuel Oil Alarm is plugged into a 230 V outlet; it is suitable for rooms with an ambient temperature between -10 °C and +60 °C. The probe is mounted at the lowest point of the area to be monitored (lying or suspended). If there is no leak, the green lamp is on. If the infrared probe is submerged in a liquid, the outlet (max. switching capacity 1800 VA at AC 230 V) immediately switches off and the red alarm lamp lights up. Accumulations of oil are reliably detected at a level of approx. 4 mm and higher. No alarm is triggered in case of a power failure. When mains power is available again, the device immediately resumes operation. If a leak has occurred in the meantime, this is indicated. The system provides excellent protection against environmental damage and the resulting high costs. The HMS Fuel Oil Alarm is easy and fast to commission. HMS detects fuel oil EL, L, M, diesel oil and low-viscosity lubricating oil (group A III and danger class A III), motor oil, gearbox oil, hydraulic oil, machine oil and hydraulic oil.     AFRISO provides a complete product family of automatic fuel oil de-aerators for continuous de-aeration in single-line, oil-fired systems. Depending on the requirements, the fuel oil de-aerators are available with one or two float chambers, integrated shut-off valve, pressure gauge and different oil filters and sieves which allow for maximum filtering of particles even at minimum oil flow rates. Automatic de-aeration eliminates malfunctions and removes the danger of leaks in the return pipe going unnoticed. De-aerators with safety float chamber reliably prevent oil from escaping. The stop valve can be closed to check the suction capacity of the burner pump.
    The pressure gauge indicates the degree of filter pollution and the possible, static pre-pressure.
    The TÜV-tested de-aerators are designed for nozzle capacities of up to 100 l/h and return flow rates of up to 120 l/h; they are suitable for oil temperatures and ambient temperatures of up to 60 °C. The
    de-aerators are connected to the tank by means of G3/8 female threads and to the burner by means of G3/8 male thread with cone for connection of the burner hoses. Installation with de-aeration hose meets the PROOFED BARRIER requirements – the system is then fully odour-tight.     The new AFRISO PrimoTherm 180 heating pump assembly is used in closed thermal heating systems to circulate heating water or water-glycol mixtures. However, virtually any other standard pump can be installed without much effort.     The new AFRISO backwash water filters WAF 03 and WAF 04 keep dirt particles such as rust, sand or hemp residue from getting into the domestic installation, thus ensuring cleaner drinking water. Uninterrupted supply of filtered water is even assured while the filter is being backwashed. The filter combination consists of a plastic housing with a pressure gauge and a transparent filter bowl with an integrated fine filter made of stainless steel. The WAF 04 water filter features an integrated pressure reducer - the prepressure is adjusted by means of a spring-loaded hood with an adjustment handle and an adjustment indicator. A prepressure compensation system ensures that changing prepressure does not affect the downstream pressure; constant system pressure is good for the installation and supports economical water consumption. The fine filter removes all dirt particles from the water and it can be backwashed - when the ball valve is opened, all collected dirt particles are flushed out of the filter. When the valve is closed again, the filter automatically resumes normal operation. The degree of pollution of the filter can be easily seen from the outside; the rotatable window of the pressure gauge allows you to mark the date of the next backwashing cycle. The DVGW-tested water filters WAF 03 and WAF 04 are suitable for operating temperatures of up to 30 °C, a prepressure of up to 16 bar, a downstream pressure of 1.5 to 6 bar and they are available with G3/4, G1 or G11/4 connections. The water filters are suitable for domestic installations and, under consideration of the specifications, for industrial and commercial purposes.
    The filters can easily and quickly replace obsolete or defective water filters or be retrofitted in existing domestic water installations.

    The new series AFRISO DMU 02 pressure transducers are based on a polysilicon thin film measuring cell, a new technology in industrial pressure measurement. The semiconductor bridge circuit is attached to an isolated stainless steel diaphragm. This measuring technology combines all the positive characteristics of conventional pressure sensors such as a high output signal, excellent dynamic behaviour, high long-term stability; in addition, it is resistant to vibrations and offers a high burst strength. Seals are not required since the measuring cell is directly welded to the process connection. In the case of open process connection versions, no hydraulic transfer medium is required so that DMU 02 Vario is the perfect solution for oil- and grease-free applications, pharmaceutical air, gas and ultra-pure gas measurements. If flush pressure connections are required in the process, a second diaphragm is mounted in front of the measuring cell. The Vario diaphragm systems are filled with special transfer liquids and also hermetically sealed by means of welding. The possibility of diffusion of the transfer liquid out of the system or of the measured medium into the system is excluded. The series DMU 02 Vario pressure transducers feature stainless steel housings and connections; they are available for the ranges -1/0 bar and 0/250 mbar up to 0/2000 bar. The pressure transducers are supplied with 12 to 32 V DC, they are suitable for temperatures of the measured medium from -40 to 125 °C and they supply 4-20 mA or 0-10 V output signals. Other electrical connections or output signals as well as customer-specific and industry-specific process connections are available as options. This probe is mounted at the lowest point of thefloor or collector to be monitored.ÖWWG 3 is connected to the burner and theboiler by means of two 7-pin connectors.     The AFRISO WATCHDOG low gas pressure alarm can be used together with an optional pressure gauge with contacts to monitor and display the pressure in gas-filled containers so that alarms can be generated if the container runs low on gas. A pressure gauge with contacts adapted to the application generates an alarm at the alarm unit via a switching contact if the pressure falls below a threshold (can be set at the pressure gauge to a value between 5 and 95 % of the range. An alarm is also triggered in the case of a cable break. The alarm unit is supplied with AC 230 V. It features an alarm and an operation lamp, a reset and a test button as well as a relay for supplying the signal to additional alarm devices or to AFRISO event reporting systems. In the case of an alarm, the person in charge can then be notified via e-mail, SMS or telephone. The low gas pressure device may not be operated in hazardous areas (EX zones); however, as a result of the intrinsically safe control circuit, the connected pressure gauge with contacts is approved for EX zones 1 and 2. For reliable monitoring of several gas containers, it is possible to connect the appropriate number of pressure gauges with contacts in series and use a single low gas pressure alarm to monitor all of them.     The AFRISO WATCHDOG overfill alarm system NB 220 QSA, consisting of the level sensor type 76...(A, C, E, M, N) and the transducer NB 220 QSA which serves as a level controller, is designed to prevent overfilling of tanks with water-polluting liquids. The overfill alarm system may be used with stationary tanks for storing inflammable and non-inflammable water-polluting liquids (such as fuel oil EL, biodiesel, diesel, gear oils, hydraulic oils and vegetable oils). The level sensors may be used for fluid temperatures of –25 °C to +50 °C (version H up to +80 °C). Operational safety is high since the unit continuously monitors the characteristic of the level sensor and checks for short circuits and cable breaks between the level sensor and the level controller. If a signal is generated, the filling process is interrupted and the unit triggers audible and visual alarms. Control lamps as well as a test and a reset button at the front ensure easy operation. The NB 220 QSA transducer is supplied with AC 230 V; 2 voltage-free changeover contacts (1 can be reset) are available for alarm and control devices. The overfill alarm system is optionally available as NB 220 QSA-AC 24 V for supply with AC 24 V or as NB 220 QSA-DC 24 V for 24 V direct voltage.     Company news The AFRISO WATCHDOG boiler water low level alarm WMS monitors the water level in heating systems as per EN 12828. If the water level drops below a minimum level, WMS triggers an alarm and the boiler is switched off. The complete WMS boiler water low level alarm consists of a control unit and a probe, which are connected by means of a two-core signal cable with a maximum length of 50 m. The control unit is supplied with AC 230 V. It contains all display and control elements as well as a voltage-free output relay for transmitting the signal, for example to an alarm unit or event reporting systems. WMS is fail-safe and self-monitoring; in addition to low water levels, it signals wire breaks or errors in the probe circuits. WMS is suitable for ambient temperatures of 0 °C to 55 °C, for heating water temperatures of up to 120 °C and for water pressures of up to 10 bar. The WMS boiler water low level alarm is available in various versions: With internal power failure lock (after a power failure, the control unit must be reset) or with an external power failure lock (the control unit is automatically reset after a power failure).     Company news Caption: AFRISO has evaluated all series DMU pressure transducers relevant for the process industry according to IEC 61508 (basic) and IEC 61511 (process industry).

    IEC 61508 defines the requirements concerning safety-related systems in systems. This standard for functional safety describes Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and categorises them into Safety Integrity Levels (SIL 1 to SIL 4). AFRISO has evaluated all series DMU piezo-resistive pressure transducers relevant for the process industry according to IEC 61508 (basic) and IEC 61511 (process industry). Two different measuring principles are used to monitor relative and absolute pressure. The robust, ceramic thick-film sensors of series DMU 01 allow for pressure measurement of almost all gases and liquids that are not aggressive to the FKM seal used in the pressure channel. This aluminium oxide sensor is also available in a flush mounting version for abrasive media such as bulk solids. The oil-immersed silicon measuring cells of series DMU 03 and DMU 04 are adapted without seals to the front-mounting process connections. The DMU 08 transducer with the same measuring principle is used for hydrostatic level measurement. All DMU pressure transducers were rated SIL 2.     AFRISO is the world's first manufacturer to use lead-free O2 sensors (ECO sensors) in the new EUROLYZER STe flue gas analyser. The analyser features the most advanced sensor technology; the ECO sensors excel not only with extremely fast calibration and response times, but also with a long service life (anti-aging compensation). The new measuring instrument integrates QA mean value measurement as per the amendment to the 1st German Federal Immission Control Act, which improves the evaluation of furnaces in the case of heavily fluctuating flue gas losses. The device is suitable for measurements of oil, gas and pellets fired systems as well as CHP systems and for inspecting heating systems for CO leaks. The ergonomically designed measuring instrument is contained in a robust protective sleeve with integrated magnets. Its large bright colour display provides excellent readability and shows two different levels for measurements, if required. A touchpad is provided for intuitive operation, which is further simplified by colour-coded menus and colour-coded measured values (green/flue gas, blue/temperature, yellow/pressure). Depending on the equipment options and on the configuration, the device can be used for a heating system check and a 4 Pa test as well as calculate and display the following parameters: Gas analysis (O2, CO, CO2, NO, NOx), temperature/pressure measurement, differential pressure, draft, efficiency, excess air and automatic pressure drop. Data transmission interfaces comprise Bluetooth and USB; Bluetooth is also used for communication with pressure and temperature probes. A standard MicroSD card allows for system-independent data storage. An infrared interface for the EuroPrinter allows the user to create printed records of the measurement directly at the customer's site. A powerful NiMH battery provides up to 10 hours of service time in Eco mode. With the new EUROLYZER STe that is already approved as per the German Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchV) and KÜO (TÜV By RgG 190) as well as EN 50379-2, AFRISO again sets the standards in the area of portable flue gas analysers.
