The Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen Group is one of the most important producers and bottlers of mineral water and non-alcoholic soft drinks in Germany. The group employs around 400 people at its sites in Treuchtlingen (Bavaria) and Breuna (Hesse).

As the new owner, ALDI Nord intends to invest further in the modern sites and expand the production and bottling of mineral water and other beverages. "The Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen Group has been one of our most important suppliers of mineral water and soft drinks for many years. Accordingly, we were convinced by the range of products offered by the family-run company in an overall tight market," said Jürgen Schwall, Chief Purchasing Officer of the ALDI North Group.

With the acquisition, ALDI Nord is also strengthening its role as a reliable basic supplier. "The acquisition of the companies with production sites in Treuchtlingen and Breuna gives us the opportunity to maintain production capacities for one of the most important foodstuffs in Germany in the long term. This will enable us to continue offering our customers high-quality mineral waters at the best possible prices," says Schwall.

The continuation of business at the two sites in Treuchtlingen and Breuna will also safeguard the jobs of the administrative and production staff. The closing is still subject to the usual approval by the German Federal Cartel Office and is expected to take place early next year. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
