Ardagh to Close Glass Plant in Germersheim During the Third Quarter
News General news
The closure of Ardagh Glass Packaging’s (AGP) German glass plant in Germersheim is a done deal.
The container glass group announced this as part of its second-quarter 2026 financial results. According to the announcement, the facility—which employs approximately 260 people—will be closed during the third quarter. The decision followed discussions with employee representatives.
According to AGP, the decision reflects ongoing efforts to assess capacity requirements in light of challenging demand conditions. Furthermore, the measure is in line with the first pillar of “Strategic Capacity & Network Evolution” within the group’s “Clearly Ardagh Glass” strategy. Ardagh’s plans to close the Germersheim glassworks were first announced in April of this year.
