Canada, ON: Muddy York Brewing to shut down its original brewery and taproom in Toronto

Two months after revealing plans to open a second location in the town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, Muddy York Brewing has announced that it will now be its only location, as it will soon be shutting down its original brewery and taproom in Toronto’s East York district, the Canadian Beer News reported on October 24.

From the announcement posted on Facebook and Instagram:
Despite the flourishing state of our business and our readiness for expansion, our lease is set to expire this year. Our landlord has opted against renewal, choosing to sell the property at 22 Cranfield Rd. While we have the opportunity to purchase the building, the escalating property values in the city have regrettably rendered it just out of financial reach.
As a result, we will be ceasing operations at 22 Cranfield Rd at the end of this year. We are genuinely disheartened to have to convey this news, as we were enthusiastically ready to enjoy many more years in this space. Our brewery tucked away in a small business park on the edges of East York has exceeded all our expectations and has proven to be a prosperous and flourishing enterprise. Unfortunately, this situation lies beyond our control.

Muddy York launched in January 2015, and will close its East York facility at the end of 2023 after almost nine years in business.

More details about the closure and plans for the Stouffville relocation will be announced in coming weeks via the Muddy York website and social media.
