News General news
On September 9, Crown Holdings Inc. broke ground on the company’s new beverage can plant in India. This marks the U.S.-based can manufacturer’s first facility on the Indian subcontinent.
The plant is located in Unnao in the state of Uttar Pradesh and, according to plans, will feature two production lines with an annual capacity of approximately 2.2 billion aluminum beverage cans. Operations are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2027.
In the future, the Unnao facility will supply customers in both the non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverage segments. The project is supported by long-term customer contracts, including a partnership with United Breweries Limited (UBL), a subsidiary of Heineken N.V.
Crown had already announced the investment in April of this year, describing it as an entry into one of the “most dynamic and fastest-growing beverage markets in the world.”
