Echter Nordhäuser Traditionsbrennerei presents “Meisterstück” Whisky No. 3
News General news
Echter Nordhäuser Traditionsbrennerei presents its third “Meisterstück”: this rye whisky, which was aged for ten years in oak barrels, received its noble finish in Sauternes barrels. This very special whisky will be available from October 16. The number of bottles is limited to 1,200.

Good things take time. That's why the third “masterpiece” from the grain specialists in Nordhausen was matured for a full ten years in oak barrels, where it developed its very own, incomparably rye-like and rounded characteristics. The rye whiskey was finished in selected Sauternes barrels. The previous contents of Sauternes, a world-famous sweet white wine, provide fruity aromas in both the smell and taste, which is soft and mild. The whiskey unfolds aromas of dried fruits such as apricot, quince, and pineapple, as well as a hint of marzipan.
Fruit also dominates the taste. A fruity-sweet composition of pineapple, banana, apricot, and quince unfolds, accompanied by light malty notes and rye. The long finish impresses with typical notes of oak. In the glass, the “Meisterstück” presents itself in warm mahogany with bright reflections. An all-round successful rye whiskey with 46% alcohol by volume, produced according to genuine Nordhäuser distilling tradition.
Expertise since 1507 – masterfully implemented
This distilling tradition has been around since 1507, which is how long grain has been distilled in Nordhausen am Harz. Thanks to this expertise – and the time that the master distillers allow their distillates to mature – the best grain and whisky distillates are produced here. Through barrel storage and interaction with the wood, the spirits become rounder and milder in taste day by day and acquire their unique flavor and distinctive color.
This is also proven by the “Meisterstück” Whiskey No. 3 with its very special flavor composition. “We are very proud of this unique rye whiskey,” emphasizes Thomas Müller, head of the traditional distillery in Nordhausen. “The finish in the Sauternes barrel has provided exactly the fruity nuances that make it so special in terms of taste.” Only around 1,200 bottles in exclusive glass bottles will be available to lovers of the finest premium spirits from October 16. Each bottle is filled, corked, labeled with love and care, numbered by hand, and adorned with an elegant tag at the traditional Echter Nordhäuser distillery. A unique item of a special kind and an attractive eye-catcher in any home bar.
Due to its exclusivity, the traditional distillery, home of Echter Nordhäuser, offers the “Meisterstück” Whisky No. 3 only in its own Echter Nordhäuser Hofshop (Grimmelallee 11, Nordhausen/Harz) and in its online shop www.traditionsbrennerei.de. The recommended retail price is €69.00 including VAT for a 0.7l bottle. Anyone wishing to visit the traditional distillery's shop in person can combine their visit with a guided tour including tasting.
