Federal President Visits Störtebeker
News General news
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit to the Störtebeker Brewery in Stralsund began with a flag-raising ceremony. The flags fluttering on the official vehicle set the tone for a day dedicated to exchange and community.
This theme was also reflected within the company itself: On the necks of the bottles of the new Störtebeker variety “United Style Lager,” released to coincide with the soccer event of the year, flags serve as a visible symbol of unity and dialogue.
The focus of the tour was direct interaction with the brewery’s employees. In personal conversations, the Federal President took the time to gain insights into daily work life and to discuss prospects for the region as well as the importance of strong teamwork within the company. In addition, Frank-Walter Steinmeier received a comprehensive overview of the brewery’s strategic direction, current innovation initiatives, and new products.
The tense situation on the German beer market was also discussed. Declining sales of traditional beers and changing consumer habits pose significant challenges for the industry. More and more consumers are turning to lighter, less bitter, and often non-alcoholic beverages with a fruity profile that deliberately set themselves apart from the traditional taste of beer. For breweries, this means consistently expanding their product portfolio and tapping into new product categories in order to meet changing expectations and remain competitive in the long term.
“The visit by the President of Germany is a great honor for us—not only for our company and our employees, but for the entire region. The open interest and lively exchange underscore how important a strong small and medium-sized business sector is for the future viability of our state,” said Störtebeker owner Jürgen Nordmann.
