The Swiss company Fishgroup GmbH had sunk an 800 kg stainless steel sphere filled with gin in Lake Constance in August 2022 and wanted to bring it up again after 100 days. But when the company's divers tried to retrieve the steel ball in December 2022, it was no longer there.

The company stored around 230 liters of gin in Lake Constance - the reason for this is the special aroma it is supposed to give the gin. The spirit is then sold in a special edition. The total retail value is about 40,000 francs.

In order to sink the gin and also to lift it again, special equipment in the form of a floating platform and a crane located on it is required each time. So if it was a case of theft, the thieves would also have had to have such equipment to get to the gin ball and then transport it away.

The boss of Fishgroup GmbH filed a complaint. The Thurgau cantonal police have taken up the investigation. Police divers were on site to check the crime scene. But it is still unclear who could have taken the gin ball out of the lake.
