2025 juicing season – Low apple juice volume with high organic share juiced at high prices

Fruit juice producers in Germany juiced around 216.5 million liters of apple juice during this year's juicing season, 56.5 million liters of which was organic. “This is a respectable result for an odd-numbered year, when quantities from orchards are usually lower,” explains Klaus Heitlinger, Managing Director of the Association of the German Fruit Juice Industry (VdF).

More quantities from the table fruit sector also went into processing, with direct juice being the main product in general. The prices paid free silo amounted to around EUR 20.00 excluding VAT for conventional produce from the start of the campaign in September to the end of November. For the organic sector, EUR 37.00 excluding VAT was paid ex-farm. In recent years, there has been a split between organic produce that meets EU standards and so-called association produce such as Bio-Land, Naturland, or other cultivation associations.

The so-called alternation, i.e., the alternation between good harvests in even years and lower harvests in odd years, was not as pronounced for orchard fruit in 2025. In addition, due to the table fruit harvest, which was very good at one million tons, larger quantities were delivered to fruit juice producers for processing.
