“Spezial” is everywhere – and has been for 130 years. This classic beer continues to shape the culinary landscape of Vorarlberg to this day. Every third beer drunk in the state is a “Spezial” – whether in a 0.5-liter bottle or the innovative 0.33-liter lightweight glass version. The Mohrenbrauerei is celebrating the anniversary with a big bottle cap competition, a lifetime supply of beer as the main prize, and a “Spezial” party at Brausilvester on September 27 at the Dornbirn Exhibition Center.

5.6 percent: many people in Vorarlberg are familiar with this figure. It is the alcohol content of the classic Mohrenbräu “Spezial” beer. The most popular beer in the state is now impressing again with another figure: 130. For so many years, this bottom-fermented specialty beer has been refreshing drinkers with its unmistakably tart taste. In 1895, the Dornbirn-based family business bottled the first “Spezial” in a swing-top bottle – a cultural treasure was born. Today, the beer is available in 0.5-liter bottles and innovative 0.33-liter lightweight glass bottles. Whether large or small, the recipe for success remains the same to this day.

“Spezial is a beer that connects generations, remains firmly in the memory, and continues to delight to this day. Tradition couldn't be more beautiful,” says Managing Director Thomas Pachole happily. At the brewery, first mentioned in documents in 1763 and the oldest in Vorarlberg, family values such as consistency, appreciation, and trust have always been highly valued. Added to this is a genuine pioneering spirit. Mohrenbräu sets industry standards in production, packaging, and logistics. “We brew really good beer with regional ingredients. We do this as energy-efficiently, easily, and sustainably as possible,” emphasizes Pachole.

3 million bottle caps and a lifetime of beer enjoyment
130 years of “Spezial” are a good reason to celebrate. That's why this year's annual Brausilvester is turning into an anniversary celebration for the favorite beer in the red bottle. The festival at the Dornbirn Exhibition Center on September 27 will offer plenty of beer enjoyment, 5 live bands, rides, and a children's program on more than 4,000 square meters. As a big thank you for decades of loyalty, the Mohrenbrauerei is giving away a lifetime supply of beer and three times 130 instant prizes.

Hidden among the 3 million “special” bottle caps are 130 special tickets for the grand prize. Whoever gets one of these will be a VIP guest at Brausilvester. The grand prize will be drawn under notarial supervision. With the exclusive beer pass, you will receive a crate from the standard range every month for 50 years at the Lädele. That makes a total of 600 crates of Mohrenbräu. And it gets even better: the card is transferable, inheritable, and can be given away as a gift. The promotion runs until September 26.
