When German brewing artistry meets American passion, something special is created: the Störtebeker brewers have had the opportunity to experience this several times over the past 12 months. For their latest creation, they decided to brew a collaborative beer that is perfect for the cold season: a strong yet balanced wheat bock that impresses with its intense fruit aromas and typical full-bodied flavor – developed jointly by the Störtebeker brewers and Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB) from Charlotte, North Carolina. The two breweries had already developed a collaborative beer for the US market at the end of 2024; now they have created its counterpart for the German market. A delegation from Olde Mecklenburg Brewery traveled to Stralsund in September for the project. However, the discussion was not limited to beer: “The exchange with our American colleagues is enriching both professionally and personally,” says Christoph Puttnies, brewer at Störtebeker Braumanufaktur. “Developing a beer together that combines the strengths of both partners is an exciting project for us – and an expression of our brewing partnership in action.”

The limited-edition wheat bock is now available exclusively from the Störtebeker online shop and the brewery store in Stralsund. The beer will celebrate its premiere at the Störtebeker LIVE adventure trip on November 14—an interactive online tasting event that this time will focus on “winter delights.”

Wheat bock – how it tastes: Störtebeker wheat bock is a top-fermented brewing specialty with an original wort content of 16.5%. Alcohol: 7.2% vol. Light wheat malt gives it its deep golden color and full body. Warm fermentation with top-fermenting yeast creates fruity aromas of ripe banana, a hint of clove, and fine carbonation. The German hop varieties Tradition and Mandarina Bavaria provide a subtle bitterness, while the US hop variety Sabro© gives the beer subtle citrus notes. Serving temperature: 10°C.
