Festive moments of indulgence: new wood barrel-aged specialty beers
News General news
Störtebeker is kicking off the festive season with four new wood barrel-aged specialties: based on a rye-wheat Eisbock and a Nordic porter, unique refinements have been created in Grand Marnier and whiskey barrels. Ideal for gifting and enjoying.
Just in time for Advent, Störtebeker Braumanufaktur is presenting its new, strictly limited edition wood barrel-aged beer specialties. For several years now, the exclusive “Barrel Aged” editions have been part of the festive end of the year for many beer lovers – both as an accompaniment to festive meals and as gifts for connoisseurs. This year's beers impress with their unique flavors:
Rye Wheat Eisbock (Grand Marnier barrel)
Especially for this year's edition, the Störtebeker brewers have frozen the popular rye wheat beer to create an Eisbock, resulting in a complex base beer. This was stored in former Grand Marnier barrels, adding fruity orange notes and a complex, warming sweetness to the banana and spice aromas of the dark wheat beer. The ideal accompaniment to classic roast duck.
Rye Wheat Eisbock (Whiskey Barrel)
Another batch of Rye Wheat Eisbock was allowed to mature in former Störtebeker whiskey barrels. This brings light smoke and tobacco notes to the beer, which perfectly complement the complex fruit notes, making this brewing specialty a perfect match for a selection of cheeses.
Nordik Porter (Grand Marnier cask)
The dark, malty Eisbock gains elegant orange accents and a delicate sweetness from Grand Marnier maturation, which blend perfectly with notes of dark chocolate and espresso. This makes it the ideal beer to accompany chocolate desserts or festive cakes.
Nordik Porter (whiskey barrel)
Another bottling of the delicately tart, chocolatey Nordik Porter was matured in Störtebeker whiskey barrels. This refinement provides warm wood notes, light smoky hints, and a depth reminiscent of tobacco—a powerful treat, ideal for long winter evenings or as a digestif with a Christmas meal.
The various wood barrel-aged brewing specialities are now available in the online shop. Only while stocks last.
