The ORTEN Group (“ORTEN”) is starting a new chapter in its 100-year company history: The traditional company based in Bernkastel-Kues will become part of TRENTAR MOBILITY GmbH (“TRENTAR MOBILITY”), a subsidiary of the TRENTAR Group, which invests in a wide range of future technologies such as drone manufacturing and services, IT/software solutions and mobility concepts.
This new partnership gives the ORTEN Group access not only to investments in its existing locations, but also to future technologies in digitalization and mobility. At the same time, the company remains entrepreneurially independent and firmly rooted in the region. TRENTAR MOBILITY is taking over the entire ORTEN Group - including ORTEN Fahrzeugbau, Christophorus Nutzfahrzeuge, GeBoKit and ETW Electric Trucks - with around 100 employees at the sites in Bernkastel-Kues, Wittlich-Wengerohr and Rothnaußlitz.
“Nothing will change for our customers, partners and employees on a day-to-day basis - except that we can now move into the future with additional strength and new opportunities,” explains Robert Orten, who led the company for 48 years as Managing Director and shareholder. “Our identity, our locations and our teams will remain the same. At the same time, being part of an international innovation network opens up new prospects for growth and technological development”.
TRENTAR MOBILITY GmbH is pursuing the vision of becoming a leading provider in the field of mobility and next-generation vehicle technologies. The focus is on solutions for the mobility of the future, digitalization and artificial intelligence - areas that the ORTEN Group also intends to develop further in a targeted manner. In addition, ORTEN intends to further strengthen and expand its market presence in Germany, Austria and Switzerland under the new ownership.
The long-standing Managing Director and shareholder Robert Orten, who has successfully led the company for 48 years, will remain on board as Managing Director until September 2025 and will then work closely with the new management team in an advisory capacity. Tarkeshwar Rao, who has extensive international management experience in the mobility sector and has lived in Germany for several years, will take over the operational management as the new CEO. The company will also continue to be supported by long-standing authorized signatories.
The new partnership will result in targeted investments in the existing locations. At the same time, it secures the long-term competitiveness of the ORTEN Group. All existing contracts, agreements and services for customers, partners and suppliers will remain unchanged. No changes to the structure, the workplaces or the company headquarters are planned. Instead, new impetus is expected to expand the value chain and develop new products.
The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
