As of Monday, January 22, all three locations had shut down, Penn Cove announced on January 20 on its social media channels.

“After much consideration and a thorough evaluation of our financial situation, we have had to make the difficult decision to cease operations,” read the statement, signed by Penn Cove CEO Marc Aparicio. “The decision to close has been a painful one, and we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for the memories, friendships, and moments we have shared together.”

Aparicio and his brother Mitch started Penn Cove in 2015, opening breweries and taprooms in Coupeville and Freeland in 2020 and 2021.

Their first venture on the mainland, a taproom and brewery in Lake Stevens, opened in July 2023.

Penn Cove’s owners could not be immediately reached for further comment.
