World Whisky Day: Annual Celebration of Whisky Worldwide
News News blog
World Whisky Day is an annual event that takes place on the third Saturday in May. This day was launched in 2012 by Blair Bowman, a renowned whisky expert and author of the "Pocket Guide to Whisky". Bowman's goal was to establish a day of global whisky celebrations.

According to the official World Whisky Day website, the aim is to celebrate whisky in a fun and enjoyable way. The focus is on inclusivity - everyone should be able to participate, regardless of the type of whisky they prefer or which part of the world it comes from. The way of consumption is also left to each individual, whether neat, with ice, water, or as a cocktail.
World Whisky Day also offers the opportunity for people who wouldn't normally consider themselves whisky drinkers to dive into the world of this spirit. Bars around the world host events and cocktail competitions to mark this day.
Thanks to social media, everyone can take part in the celebrations, even if there is no event taking place nearby. In previous years, there have been tastings via Twitter, online raffles for whiskies, decanters, and glasses. There was even a "Dram a Day" Advent calendar produced, allowing people to count down the days until World Whisky Day while trying new whiskies.
Whether neat, on the rocks, with soda water, or mixed as a cocktail - there is no wrong way to enjoy whisky! In that spirit: Slàinte!
