7th Packaging Day with numerous campaigns

In cooperation with seven trade associations, this year's Packaging Day campaign features a question-and-answer campaign for citizens on social media, an online exhibition of state-of-the-art packaging solutions, an information series with facts and key messages about packaging, and an open expert panel with the participation of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and leading representatives from Coca-Cola Germany, Duales System Holding, NABU and Huhtamaki.

To mark the start of the seventh Packaging Day on 10 June 2021, the German Packaging Institute (dvi), the Association for Packaging + the Environment (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verpackung + Umwelt e.V.) and the Yellow Bin Initiative (geTon) invite the press and the trade to a virtual dialogue panel. (AGVU) and the Initiative Gelbe Tonne (geTon) invite the press and experts to a virtual dialogue panel from 10:00 to 11:30 am. In addition to current topics and challenges of the packaging industry, the discussion panel will focus on the question of what the Packaging Act has brought about and where the amendments will or will not lead.

The panel will discuss: Florian Pronold, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU); Uwe Kleinert, Head of Sustainability at Coca-Cola Germany; Sascha Roth, Environmental Policy Officer at NABU - Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.; Michael Wiener, CEO of Duales System Holding and Huhtamaki.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is via the website tag-der-verpackung.org. Participants are invited to join the discussion with questions via the chat function.

Exhibition and key messages
The dvi uses a visual information series to convey key messages about the importance of packaging on its website and in social media as part of Packaging Day. Under the title "Packaging helps. 12 motifs with facts and figures show what packaging does for people, the environment and the economy.

AGVU and dvi also show examples of state-of-the-art packaging solutions in a picture and information show on the Packaging Day campaign website.

#Packaging answers
Together with the Bundesverband Glasindustrie e.V., the Industrieverband Papier- und Folienverpackung e.V., the IK Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen e. V., the Initiative Mülltrennung wirkt and the Verband Metallverpackungen e.V., the dvi is running another campaign for the general public on Packaging Day 2021. Under the hashtag #Verpackungantwortet, citizens can ask all their questions about packaging on Twitter and Instagram from 7 June 2021. On 10 June, experts from the trade associations and initiatives will answer all questions live from 10:00 to 15:00.
