Is US-based Ball Corporation abandoning its plans to acquire Belgian and Hungarian beverage can manufacturers Benepack Belgium and Benepack Hungary?

According to an entry in the German Federal Cartel Office's register, the merger notification was withdrawn on October 13.

As reported, the planned merger was notified to the German competition authority on September 12. Ball has not yet responded to a request for comment from EUWID.

The Hong Kong-based packaging group CPMC produces aluminum beverage cans at its European plants Benepack Belgium and Benepack Hungary.
