Berentzen Group Aktiengesellschaft has published its new sustainability strategy for 2030. The strategy combines the group's sustainability efforts in three pillars: Reducing Carbon, Empowering People, and Reinforcing Resilience, thereby linking climate protection, social responsibility, and economic resilience.
“Sustainable thinking and action are an integral part of our business activities,” explains Ralf Brühöfner, CFO of the Berentzen Group, adding: "In the new sustainability strategy, we have formulated concrete goals and measures that we want to implement and achieve by 2030. In doing so, we are focusing on the environmentally conscious use of resources, fair working conditions and equal opportunities, as well as responsible, resilience-building corporate governance."
In the area of Reducing Carbon, the Berentzen Group is pushing ahead with the implementation of science-based climate targets by the end of 2026. Measures to reduce emissions include switching from heating oil to biogas at the Minden site, optimizing logistics through the use of electric trucks, implementing power-to-heat concepts, and further electrifying the company's vehicle fleet.
Under the guiding principle of Empowering People, the Group focuses on the health, safety, and equal opportunities of its employees. Measures range from regular employee satisfaction surveys and needs-based occupational health management to the further development of the Vision Zero approach to occupational safety. The aim is to strengthen employee motivation, productivity, and long-term retention. Finally, the Reinforcing Resilience pillar aims to increase organizational resilience to growing global and regional risks and challenges. To this end, crisis and risk management are being further developed, emergency plans for critical business processes are being optimized, and information security, fire protection, and compliance processes are being specifically optimized to prevent material and immaterial damage at an early stage.
“We are convinced that sustainability is a key factor for long-term corporate stability and profitability. Through these multifaceted measures, we can fulfill our social responsibility in addition to our contribution to the environment and climate, generate long-term competitive advantages, reduce costs, and ensure the continued existence of the group,” Brühöfner concluded. The Berentzen Group will begin implementing the measures in the coming months and will report on its progress in its annual sustainability reports.
