This is pointed out by the reverse vending machine manufacturer Tomra Collection, a subsidiary of the Norwegian Tomra Group. Metal beverage containers with a filling volume of up to 3 litres are affected. A deposit of 0.15 € is now due for them.

The Dutch deposit system was previously designed for one-way plastic beverage bottles. However, according to estimates, about 150 million beverage cans are carelessly thrown away in the environment every year in the country. In 2020 alone, littering of aluminium cans increased by 27%, prompting the Dutch government to extend the existing deposit to metal packaging.
