Beverage cans: Crown plans to take over Helvetia Packaging

The US packaging group Crown Holdings Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire the beverage can and can end manufacturer Helvetia Packaging AG.

Founded in 2013, Helvetia Packaging manufactures aluminium cans in sizes 0.33 l and 0.5 l as well as can ends at its Saarlouis site. The takeover will increase Crown's beverage can supply in Germany by about one billion units, it says. The US group does not operate its own beverage can production here so far.
The closing of the transaction is subject to the approval of the German competition authorities and is scheduled for the end of 2023.
