With the opening of the new barrel warehouse, Mast-Jägermeister SE is completing the construction phase of a major infrastructure project. The new facility creates additional capacity for a key production step in the herbal liqueur’s manufacturing process and was designed and implemented in line with the company’s sustainability strategy. Jägermeister has invested 17.6 million euros in the barrel warehouse. The goal of the new facility is to establish barrel aging—an essential and quality-critical step in the production process—as a robust, efficient, and future-oriented operation in the long term. Jägermeister has always aged its base spirit in large oak barrels. This aging process is a key driver of quality for the world-famous herbal liqueur and significantly shapes its sensory profile. The new 5,000-square-meter facility will allow for the storage of up to 225 additional barrels in the future.

“We are making a conscious investment in our production base. The new barrel warehouse strengthens the quality and resilience of our supply chain and creates the conditions for us to continue growing organically in the future,” says Michael Volke, CEO of Mast-Jägermeister SE.

With its new barrel storage facility, Jägermeister is translating its company-wide sustainability strategy into a concrete infrastructure project. The building has been specifically equipped with innovative technologies, including a photovoltaic system, a rainwater management system, and a construction method that relies primarily on wood. The solutions implemented are designed to optimize the building’s energy and resource consumption. The concept has already been awarded DGNB Gold pre-certification for sustainable construction.

The Kamenz site is firmly integrated into Jägermeister’s production network and complements the headquarters in Wolfenbüttel. “As a family-owned company, we think in terms of generations. Our goal is to combine economic growth with ecological responsibility. That is why we invest where we see long-term prospects. The new barrel storage facility is another clear commitment to Kamenz as a production site,” says Florian Rehm, entrepreneur and majority shareholder of Mast-Jägermeister SE.

This construction project is one of the herbal liqueur manufacturer’s largest investments in recent years and underscores its commitment as an employer to more than 60 employees in the region.
