Affected brand owners requested the destruction of the questionable beverages
On July 19, 2026, employees at the Osthafen Customs Office seized a total of 62,400 energy drinks during a truck inspection. The colors, logos, and appearance of the cans had been counterfeited to imitate well-known energy drink brands. The shipping documents listed Afghanistan as the country of origin for the cans, which were intended for sale in France.
The affected brand owners were notified; they confirmed the suspicion of counterfeiting and requested the destruction of the questionable beverages.
Christine Straß, press spokesperson for the Frankfurt am Main Main Customs Office: “The seized shipment comprised approximately 15,000 liters with a total weight of 16.3 metric tons. Customs estimates the potential retail value at just under 100,000 euros.”
