Lammsbräu reaches milestone on the road to e-mobility

• First electric truck now in service
• Electric conversion of car and forklift fleet largely complete
• CO2 emissions from the brewery's vehicle fleet already reduced by a third since 2020
Organic pioneer Neumarkter Lammsbräu has now taken delivery of its first electric truck: a Daimler-Benz eActros 300 is now on the road in and around Neumarkt, replacing a diesel truck. This marks the next step in Lammsbräu's climate-friendly conversion of its vehicle fleet. Whereas the focus has been on company cars and forklifts up to now, the company is now also turning its attention to its truck fleet. The steps taken so far have already enabled the Upper Palatinate-based company to successfully reduce the CO2 emissions of its vehicle fleet from an original 214.6 tons in 2020 to 140.1 tons last year. By 2027, Lammsbräu's entire car fleet will be electric, and from now on, every newly purchased truck will be electric.
“The vehicle fleet is the second-largest source of emissions in our company and therefore a key area of action within our Climate Strategy 2.0,” explains Johannes Ehrnsperger, owner and managing director of Neumarkter Lammsbräu: "We are focusing on electric vehicles and supplying them with sustainably generated electricity to round off our climate efforts. In addition, our employees can use the company's own charging infrastructure, and we also support them in purchasing private wall boxes. In this way, we are contributing to the switch to electric cars, which extends beyond our own vehicle fleet."
Lammbräu currently operates a fleet of 22 cars, 18 of which are already electrically powered, meaning that the switch to electric vehicles in this area is already largely complete. In addition, there are seven trucks for the delivery of beer, soft drinks, and mineral water, as well as other diverse transport tasks. In total, the Neumarkter Lammsbräu vehicle fleet covers a distance of around 850,000 kilometers per year, with the trucks alone covering around 100,000 kilometers. With the eActros, an electric vehicle is now also being used for the first time in the truck fleet. Two more are to follow in the coming years.
The approximately 400 kW eActros 300 from Daimler-Benz has three lithium-ion batteries with a payload of 10.6 tons and a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The approximately 400 kW eActros 300 from Daimler-Benz has three lithium-ion batteries

Neumarkter Lammsbräu has also expanded its own charging infrastructure as part of the procurement of the new vehicle. The “electric charging station” was financed from the company's own climate fund. The in-house fund was created in 2023 as part of Lammsbräu's Climate Strategy 2.0 and has its origins in funds that were previously spent on external CO2 compensation projects. Lammsbräu has been foregoing such measures since 2021 and is instead using the funds for its own climate protection projects that would not be economically viable on their own.
The core of the Climate Strategy 2.0 launched in 2021 is to further reduce the company's absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent by 2030 compared to 2020. Neumarkter Lammsbräu is thus committing itself to the 1.5°C target. The development of the corresponding measures was comprehensively supported by the University of Kassel.
