First appointment of a non-family member in the long history of Glaabsbräu
Glaabsbräu has appointed Julian Menner (33), who has been brewmaster of the oldest brewery in southern Hesse since February 2015, as managing director effective Oct. 1, 2021. The beverage technologist, brewmaster and beer sommelier Julian Menner is thus the first non-family member in the long history of the family brewery to assume the position of managing director. The family business, which was founded in 1744, has been managed exclusively by the founding Wissel family and their descendants without interruption until now. With Robert Glaab as managing partner, the ninth generation has been at the helm of the company since 1998.
Glaabsbräu is one of the few remaining family-run breweries in Hesse. Nevertheless, Glaabsbräu is one of the most innovative breweries in Germany and relies on a brewing and raw materials philosophy that is unique in Germany. All Glaabsbräu beers and Glaab's craft beers are brewed naturally, sustainably and Co2-neutral. Thus, Glaabsbräu sets even higher quality standards than those of the German Purity Law.
"We are very proud to have Julian Menner, one of the most talented brewmasters in Germany. He brings strong entrepreneurial thinking, creativity and sustainability expertise relevant to our corporate philosophy. His appointment is an important strategic step in the long-term perspective of our company management," says head of brewing Robert Glaab.
"For six years, I have been allowed to lead the technical and technological fortunes of Glaabsbräu and have always been encouraged on my path here by the Glaab family and have been able to develop and mature personally and professionally through this family environment. Now I am delighted to be able to continue shaping the future of Glaabsbräu, the start-up with a history, in my new role," emphasizes Julian Menner.
Among others, Barbara Klein, Honorary President of Kickers Offenbach; Frank Lortz, Vice President of the Hessian Parliament; District Administrator Oliver Quilling; Mayor, Dr. Daniell Bastian, Michael Gerheim and Markus Weinbrenner, Managing Director of the IHK-Offenbach am Main attended the appointment during an official ceremony at the brewery in Seligenstadt. In addition to the staff, only a smaller circle of customers and business partners was able to attend for Corona's reasons.
