The British did not lose a single ship at the Battle of Trafalgar, but Lord Nelson was mortally wounded by a French sniper and died shortly before the battle ended.

His body was placed in a brandy barrel laced with camphor and myrrh for preservation on the voyage back to England. Although he was guarded throughout the voyage, according to legend, his crew and shipmates drank the brandy wine out of respect for the admiral and called it "Nelson's Blood"

Recipe for Nelson's Blood cocktail:
1 oz Spanish port
4 - 5 oz French champagne
Combine champagne and port in a drinking vessel. Stir well and serve.
