Pepsi A.M. - Cola for breakfast

Perhaps someone still remembers the song "Himbeereis zum Frühstück" by Hoffmann & Hoffmann from 1977 (German version of the Bellamy-Brothers hit "Crossfire"). Pepsi had a similar idea in 1989 and launched a cola for breakfast.

Pepsi A.M. had the same flavour as normal Pepsi, but contained 25% more caffeine. There was also a sugar-free version that had only one calorie.

This cola was intended to appeal to coffee drinkers and encourage them to drink Pepsi A.M. instead of coffee for breakfast. Pepsi A.M. was first introduced in 1989 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Waterloo, Iowa, and Fort Wayne, Indiana, on a trial basis.

However, just one year later, production of Pepsi A.M. and the sugar-free version was discontinued in October 1990 due to low sales.
