Old St. Croix - A rum legend returns
News General news
Old St. Croix Legacy is more than just a bottle with gold-colored contents. It is a modern homage to the iconic Old St. Croix blend, which was first launched on the market over 150 years ago. Now it returns - as part of the renaming of A.H. Riise to Old St. Croix.

The name says it all: Legacy. This limited edition marks the beginning of a new chapter - and pays tribute to the old one at the same time. The velvety, complex spirit is made from carefully selected barrels from renowned distilleries in the Caribbean and Central America. The result is a premium spirit drink - not classified as rum under EU law, but clearly in the tradition of the great West Indian blends. A product in which craftsmanship and history merge - presented in a retro-inspired bottle with echoes of Riise's original “Old St. Croix Dark Rum”.
The Caribbean as the Garden of Eden of rum
In the 19th century, St. Croix was known as “The Garden of the West Indies”. The fertile climate and nutrient-rich soil made the island ideal for growing sugar cane. Over 200 distilleries processed the local molasses into what became known worldwide as St. Croix rum.
Albert Heinrich Riise - the pioneering pharmacist
Albert Heinrich Riise settled on St. Thomas in 1838. There he not only developed medicines, but also exceptional spirits - aromatic blends with depth and character. One of his most famous was Old St. Croix Rum, which he marketed internationally under this name.
A successful brand heritage is revived
Today, the Old St. Croix name is back - as a modern brand with a historical foundation. The move from A.H. Riise to Old St. Croix is international in scope, but firmly rooted in history. A name that is easier to pronounce - but hard to forget.
