The Wacken Open Air has been around since 1990 and many a memorable concert and event has taken place on the holy field in Schleswig-Holstein since then. Sersheim with its Fesslermill 1396 distillery is about 730 km away from Wacken, but the two master millers of the over 625-year-old Sersheim mill with distillery are busy Wacken visitors and in the meantime friends with Wacken Open Air founder Thomas Jensen.

In 2021 Tobias and Wolfgang Fessler were allowed to create the first special whisky edition for Wacken and this year they were able to present Thomas Jensen in Wacken with the certificate for gold at the national whisky award ceremony. The two aspiring whisky distillers also became the second best whisky distiller in the country, which was reason enough for Wacken to issue a special edition 2023 from the Sersheim distillery with an edition of 666 bottles for Christmas. Of course, this is in keeping with the Wacken Open Air motto 2023, which again has a theme running through it, namely the culture of the Vikings. This will be reflected in the overall appearance of the Wacken Open Air as well as in artistic performances, programme content and other offers on the grounds. 110,000 Wacken fans have a ticket, so all those who get hold of one of the 666 Fesslermill mettermalt whisky editions can consider themselves lucky.
