"Continuous, transparent communication in the areas of economy, ecology and social affairs is of paramount importance to us, which is why we have once again produced a voluntary Sustainability Report for the 2022 financial year," says Ralf Brühöfner, CFO of Berentzen-Gruppe Aktiengesellschaft.

"Even though media coverage last year was largely dominated by the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, many important sustainability topics have gained additional weight in the public perception. Energy crisis, the hottest and driest summer since weather records began, increasing human rights violations - to name just a few key points that bear this out," Brühöfner continues.

Sustainability activities were also intensified again in the Berentzen Group, he said. "A very special highlight for us was the installation of photovoltaic systems at our production sites in Haselünne and Minden," explains Brühöfner. These would be sufficient to cover around 16 to 18 per cent of the electricity consumption at the two sites. Other important measures in the 2022 business year included the introduction of a sustainability-related risk management system, the implementation of an environmental management system and the switch to more energy-efficient steam generation in production.

"In the future, we will continue to consistently pursue our chosen path in order to achieve our sustainability goals. Among other measures, we are planning further investments in a more self-sufficient supply of renewable energy this year, for example," Brühöfner concludes.
