Carlsberg Germany transfers Hannen Alt and Gatz Altbier to Privatbrauerei Bolten

Effective April 1, 2022, Carlsberg Germany will sell its Altbier brands Hannen Alt and Gatz Altbier to Privatbrauerei Bolten GmbH & Co. KG, in order to focus even more strongly on the core brands in the future and further drive their growth.

Sales of both brands in the catering trade will be continued as part of a cooperative venture. Marketing of the Altbier brands will thus continue - in addition to marketing via the new owner - via Carlsberg Germany.

"I am delighted that we have found a suitable new home for Hannen Alt and Gatz Altbier in Privatbrauerei Bolten, in order to continue the traditional history of both brands with expertise and passion. For us, on the other hand, the sale offers the opportunity to focus our resources on our core business and strengthen our leading position in it," says Sebastian Holtz, CEO Carlsberg Germany.

Michael Hollmann, Managing Director of Privatbrauerei Bolten, also has high hopes for this step: "We believe in the future of Altbier and in good beer taste. The two brands are therefore a perfect fit for us because we have consistently focused on managing small beer brands. We are therefore very pleased to be able to offer our customers an even broader range of products in the future by expanding our portfolio and, in cooperation with Carlsberg Germany, to specifically expand the Lower Rhine region."
