DS Smith develops eye-catching display for Carlsberg's launch of 1664 Blanc in Germany

DS Smith, an International Paper Company and the world's leading provider of sustainable, fiber-based packaging solutions, has teamed up with the Carlsberg Group to develop an eye-catching and fully recyclable display solution. With this solution, DS Smith is supporting the strategic market launch of Carlsberg's premium beer brand Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc in Germany.
The fiber-based corrugated cardboard point-of-sale display is designed for maximum visibility: a contour-cut bottle silhouette, high-quality offset printing with a gloss finish, and a printed inner surface of the display jacket underline the premium character of the brand. The display is designed for flexible use in various retail locations, including gondola ends, entrance areas, checkout zones, or as a freestanding display.
“The launch of 1664 Blanc in Germany was an important milestone for us, and the display from DS Smith played a key role in bringing the brand to life in stores,” says Franz Engelhardt, Channel Marketing Manager 1664 Blanc, Carlsberg Group Germany. “The high-quality design, striking appearance, and recyclable materials enabled us to make a strong first impression and successfully launch the brand on the market,” Engelhardt concludes.
Thanks to its modular design, the display can be flexibly positioned and scaled, making it a versatile solution for both large supermarkets and smaller stores. Initial results show that the display attracts consumers' attention and promotes interaction with the brand.
In addition to its visual impact, the display is made entirely of corrugated cardboard and is therefore fully recyclable. The additional printed center bars ensure safe transport without compromising the presentation of the goods. The targeted use of coated kraftliner paper as a high-quality printing substrate also ensures high durability, eliminating the need for plastic.
“At DS Smith, we specialize in developing eye-catching display solutions that not only strengthen brand presence in retail, but also promote the circular economy,” says Ronny Paassen, Strategic Account Manager at DS Smith. “This project with Carlsberg is an excellent example of how sustainable design can combine performance with environmental responsibility.”
DS Smith is committed to driving industry-wide change towards a circular economy and offers sustainable packaging solutions to its customers worldwide. With its sustainability strategy “Now. And in the future.”, the company aims to redefine packaging for a changing world.
