Tradition meets technology
With over 50 products - from mother juices to food supplements - Haus Rabenhorst is one of the innovation leaders in the high-quality direct juices segment. Founded back in 1898 with a “non-alcoholic medicinal wine”, the company set a milestone for health-oriented drinks in 1952 with the iconic Rotbäckchen juice. Today, this tradition is being continued through targeted investment in modern technology. As part of its long-term modernization strategy, Rabenhorst invested in a highly automated end-of-line packaging solution. The new line processes up to 60 cycles per minute and is perfectly matched to the existing high-bay warehouse and all logistical processes. As general contractor, Hormes was responsible for the entire design and implementation.

Engineering with sensitivity
The realization of the plant placed high demands on planning and implementation: limited space, narrow insertion openings and a tight schedule required precise coordination. Hormes implemented the project in several construction phases - from dismantling and soil remediation to machine installation and operator training - in close coordination with all the trades involved.

Technology in detail
The new end-of-line packaging line includes, among other things:

  • Layer palletizer for optimized palletizing efficiency
  • Conveyor technology for bottles, packs and pallets
  • Lane distributor for line optimization
  • Checkweigher for completeness check
  • Pallet contour control for precise storage
  • Integration of carton packaging, pallet securing and labelling with project partners

Efficiency through innovation
The new line brings tangible economic benefits:

  • More output: One more carton per layer increases packaging performance
  • Cost savings: Optimized outer packaging reduces material usage
  • Energy efficiency: Recuperation uses braking energy sustainably
  • Low maintenance: Reduced maintenance effort thanks to robust technology
  • User-friendly: Ergonomic access and flexible buffer zones
  • Logistics-friendly: Optimal connection to the high-bay warehouse

Conclusion: A flagship project for medium-sized beverage manufacturers
Haus Rabenhorst impressively demonstrates how medium-sized manufacturers can remain fit for the future through intelligent automation - without losing their roots. The project with Hormes is a successful example of how tradition and technology can successfully come together in the German SME sector.
