International Beer Day: A Reason to Raise a Glass!
News News blog
International Beer Day takes place every year on the first Friday in August, which falls on August 1st in 2025. On this day, beer lovers around the world celebrate their favorite beverage. But where does this holiday actually come from? And since when has beer existed?

The History of International Beer Day
International Beer Day was launched in 2008 by Jesse Avshalomov and his friends in Santa Cruz, California. Their idea was to use this holiday to connect people worldwide through their shared love of beer and to celebrate the various beer cultures. What began as a local event has now evolved into an international celebration observed in over 100 countries.
Since When Has Beer Existed?
The history of beer dates back to ancient times. As early as around 6,000 years ago, a beer-like beverage was brewed in ancient Egypt. In the Middle Ages, it was primarily monks who engaged in brewing beer. To this day, many legends surround the popular drink. For example, Saint Arnold of Metz is said to have distributed beer to the poor during a famine - at that time, water was often contaminated, while beer was germ-free and nutritious.
Beer-Based Mixed Drinks and Beer Cocktails
Beer is not only enjoyable on its own but also serves as an excellent ingredient for mixed drinks. A classic is the "Black Velvet," which combines Guinness and champagne. Beer is also used in cocktails like Michelada. On International Beer Day, it's worth trying out new creations in a convivial gathering.
With that in mind: Cheers and a happy International Beer Day!
