We did it again! Unser Weiherer Rauch holt Gold beim World Beer Cup und ist damit WELTMEISTER!

“This is absolutely amazing!” says our head brewer and master brewer Roland Kundmüller enthusiastically. His brother Oswald, Managing Director and beer sommelier, adds: "After last year's huge success, when our Weiherer Kräusen Hell was named the world's best cellar beer, we would never have dreamed of such an award again. We are overwhelmed and would like to thank our fantastic brewing team."

A success story for more than 150 years
Our Kundmüller brewery was founded in Weiher in 1874. A lot has happened since then: from just one beer, Lager Hell, we now produce over 30 varieties, including classics, special brews, non-alcoholic, organic and international specialties. Output has increased more than tenfold and the entire company now shines in new splendor - with a renovated inn and guest house and a state-of-the-art brewhouse from Kaspar Schulz, Bamberg.

Challenge and quality at the World Beer Cup
The World Beer Cup is the oldest and largest beer competition in the world. Since its foundation in 1996, it has been regarded as the global “Beer Olympics” of brewers. This year, 1,761 breweries took part and submitted 8,375 beers from 49 countries. A gold, silver and bronze medal was awarded in each of the 112 categories. The 265 international judges assessed the beers in a rigorous process over several days.

Only quality prevailed
The tasting took place in several rounds, in which each beer was tested for stylistic fidelity, taste, aroma and brewing method. The Weiherer Rauch convinced the jury with its perfect balance and authentic stylistic fidelity, which ultimately earned it the gold medal. According to the organizers, Weiherer Rauch is a world-class beer that embodies the specified style exactly and has the right balance of taste, aroma and appearance.

Reason to celebrate
"We are delighted with the gold for our Weiherer Rauch! Quality is our top priority, and this medal is confirmation from the highest authority. After three silver medals for our Rauch at the World Beer Cup in 2014, 2022 and 2024, this gold medal is simply overwhelming!" says our Roland, still beside himself with excitement. “The World Beer Cup is the biggest, most important and toughest beer competition of all and this success really leaves us speechless,” adds Oswald. “We are particularly pleased with the award because it means we have brought the gold medal to the home of smoked beer.” There were only four awards in total for German breweries and only this one gold medal.

Congratulations from all over the world
During the award ceremony on the night of May 2, Roland and Oswald received numerous congratulations via WhatsApp and on social media, including from Markus Raupach, renowned beer expert from Bamberg and jury member at the World Beer Cup. He was present live at the award ceremony in Indianapolis. He congratulated them with the words “Congratulations, you are now the spearhead of the German brewers' guild”. There is nothing more to add.
