Regional brewing barley - New “EinHundert” tastes one hundred percent like home

Anyone who appreciates regional products can rejoice: Einbecker Brauhaus is launching the new “EinHundert”, a beer brewed entirely from local malting barley. A total of eight farmers grow the spring barley exclusively. From the beginning of July, the unfiltered draught beer will be delivered exclusively to regional restaurants within a radius of 100 kilometers, followed by a filtered bottled edition for local retailers at the end of July. Both editions are limited, according to the company.

“With our ‘Regional Brewing Barley’ project, we want to show that regional value chains work and benefit everyone involved: the farmers, the brewery and the people here in the region, who can drink a beer that really does come from here with a clear conscience,” says Marc Kerger, CEO of Einbecker Brauhaus. "We don't just talk about regionality, we live it. The farmers support each other, we are in constant communication and we all benefit from short distances, procurement security through purchase guarantees, high quality and genuine partnership."
"EinHundert“ not only stands for the origin of the malting barley, but also for an honest taste full of character, writes the brewery: ”Soft notes of honey and toasted bread, a hint of citrus, a balanced bitterness - that's what home tastes like. With 13°P original gravity and 5.5% alcohol by volume, the natural beer is full-bodied on the tongue. EinHundert" is bottled in the traditional 0.33-litre Steinie bottle - a true classic with a high recognition value.
The new beer is backed by committed farmers such as Heinrich Klingelhöfer from Gleichen: "I think regionality is very important. So many products are transported back and forth that are actually much better here at home. I really like growing malting barley, it needs less fertilizer and plant protection and fits well into our crop rotation."
Mario Lockemann from Göttingen-Herberhausen is also enthusiastic about the partnership: "It's a really great thing that Einbecker has brought to life. We work closely together and find joint solutions even for difficult harvests. That makes cooperation fun. I more or less got involved through my brothers. They run a pub that sells Einbecker beer, and now the grain for the beer is also grown here. You can't really get more regional than that."
To show people in the region who is behind the project, Einbecker Brauhaus portrays the participating farmers in detail on its own website and on social media. With personal insights, regionality can be experienced in a direct way. As a partner, the Einbecker brewery shares the vision of the regional producers' association Kostbares Südniedersachsen and wants to strengthen and promote regional marketing structures. The linking and exchange of regional players and producers promotes regional diversity. Together, visibility is created for honest, credible and high-quality products from the region.
The limited edition “EinHundert” is an offer for people in the region: "We want local consumers to be the first to benefit from this special project. That's why the beer is available exclusively in restaurants within a radius of 100 kilometers and as a limited bottle edition in selected markets in the region," emphasizes Marc Kerger.
