World's Fastest Beer Drinker: Steven Petrosino Downs 1 Liter in 1.3 Seconds
News News blog
The world's fastest beer drinker is Steven Petrosino. Born in 1951, the American set a world record on June 22, 1977, that remains unbroken to this day: At the Gingerbreadman Pub in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, he downed a liter of beer in an incredible 1.3 seconds.

With this insane time, Petrosino surpassed the previous record holder, Peter Dowdeswell. The Brit had drunk a liter of beer in 2.3 seconds a few years earlier. But Petrosino significantly undercut this time.
For his achievement, the former professional soldier not only got a decent buzz but also an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. His record remains unbroken to this day and has never been surpassed.
Another "speed drinking" record is held by Englishman Peter G. Dowdeswell. In 1975, he emptied a full two liters of beer in just six seconds. But even he couldn't match Steven Petrosino's best time.
While the record of the fastest beer drinker is impressive, it is definitely not recommended to imitate. Drinking such large amounts of alcohol in such a short time can be extremely dangerous to one's health. Beer drinkers should take it slow and enjoy their favorite drink in moderation.
